Question Anyone with electric fuel preassure gauge ?

I know have a electric fuel preassure gauge, but it wont work as i want it to !

When everything is shut off it reads 100 psi (as far up as it will go). When i turn on the ignition it goes down to zero for a short moment then goes right back up to top (100 psi). It has is own wiring that goes between the gauge and the sender, so it shouldent be that its connected wrong. Tried with the vacuum hose disconnected but same result.

Its connected to a Aeromotiv fuel regulator.

Anyone got any suggestions ?

Thanks

Anders

hmm

what guage do you have??

I have an autometer elec fuel guage it has 3 wires from the sender to the guage. Mine is connected to my fuel rail via the schrader valve.

Sweeps to 0 when powered and heads up and back to 30ish when it starts.

It is an Autometer lunar series with 3 wires !

It should read from the fuel regulator according to manual.

It sits on top when ignition is off ?

Make absolutely sure you have a very good ground wire, engine block if necessary. If that checks out, most likely the sending unit is faulty.

It does not read from the fuel regulator. I've got no idea where you've got it hooked up, but the correct location for the sensor is on the schrader valve on the passenger side. You'll need an adapter part to fit.

It sounds like your gauge is working correctly and you've got it located wrong.

He states it is hooked up to an Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator that is the correct place if he does not have stock rails.

It sounds like you may have a bad sender. I have almost the same setup but I have the phantom guage. All things assumed that you double checked the wiring and that you have the sender in the gauge port on the regulator, front pipe thread port, I would try a different sender. The gauge should start at 0 psi when the key is off and go up to your idle pressure, 38#'s or so, then return to 0 psi when you turn the key off.

Yes your right, i dont have the stock rails and its hooked up the way you describe it.
I'll check the wiring one more time and see.

Thanks !

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that if you used teflon tape to install the sender, the sender may not be making good contact for your ground......... that is a problem with most senders and causes many headaches.

Mine did close to the same. All I had to do to fix it was to find a fuse that was hot when in crank mode. I had it connected to a fuse that was not hot in crank mode. Its worth a try.
