Post Air Filters

I just got off the phone with K & N and they do not yet make the fileter kit for the 00. Just the stock replacement version. When I asked him when they might he replied, check back with us in Jan. 01. So now I know why Sal is so backed up with his orders. And after talking with S & B who don't know if their 99 version will work or not, i think maybe there room out there for other filter makers.

Bear,

I see your 14th post was on the topic of installing the S&B filter on the Airaid setup and your 15th started a new thread on the topic. As we are all her to help one another......

The Airaid kit comes with a K&N and it fits both 99 and 00 models. A few of us have opted to retrofit the S&B filter in leiu of potential turbulance created via the factory "ducting" and screwign up the mass air meter.

The above links will give you an idea how this has evolved. AND...This is in no way an attempt to descredit K&N, just my opinion.

Bob, thanks for the reply. I am a rookie at this so bear with me. I got the S&B number from a post and was calling to find what was available. when the lady told me she didn't know if what she had would work or not, i called k & n for the same reason and the tech flat out told me that they did not have a filter kit for the 00 L. is the airraid box and the round filter a put together configuration that works or is that comb sold as a unit. I would prefer to wait for sals and i guess i will but lord only knows when we might be able to get those. from the posts, there seems to be so many ahead of me, i might be ready to trade before i get a filter.

Thanks

Bear,

As mentioned previously, we are here to help.

The Airiad "box" kit includes a 9" x 3.5" K&N filter. I bought my kit through this site and received it quickly. I would like to have waited for Sal's filter kit too. I like to shielding the airaid offers yet i Like the open end design of the S&B. The pictures posted on the https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/003726.html thread are of my setup withthe help of Silver_2000.

Do read up on the links to the threads i posted above. K&N and Autophysics are really out of the loop on this as we (collectively) created this setup. I think they will help you sort out where we are coming from.

If you can wait for Sal's setup, go for it. it is highly recommended. We just came up with a similar alternative.

peace,

As SpeedinBob has mentioned, go to:
https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/003726.html

In regards to filters for Airaid. A number of us ordered the Big Mouth filter from Autophysics and they are now starting to arrive, being installed and tested.

I am glad I ordered one.
