Methanol
Hi SCOTTODOG,
Yes, I can tell you, and in a word, DON'T!
While methanol & alcohol-based fuels do tend to have very high octane ratings, their actual *energy* content is very low, about half that of gasoline. Which is why Indy cars burning methanol have to burn roughly 2 gallons of it for each 1 gallon of gas you would nomally burn.
Now, it's true that a special custom program could be made for your truck to run on methanol all the time, but you would need a new fuel system, as methanol & alcohol are very corrosive to fuel system components. You would also need much bigger injectors, to be able to flow enough methanol.
This is *exactly* why octane boosters that use alcohol or methanol as their primary octane-boosting additive don't work.
Your truck's fuel curves are programmed very precisely for the use of pump premium gasoline, and that is what you'll have your best results with, unless perhaps you have a special program done to take advantage of racing gas, etc.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us, and we'll be happy to go over this with you.
