Johnny, I must admit, that PI I got from you is one front wheel launching sob. Motor seems to spool up quicker too.

I have seen the inside of both torque converters and how they are constructed....I have a Total Dominator in my truck. No issues at all. I had a Art Carr and all I can say is stay far away from them.

I concur. Ive seen 4 triple disc Art Carr converters come apart last year. One came apart on the dyno.

No I believe that Yank makes Yank converters.

Has anyone tried one of the above?

I drove a truck with a Yank. It was about a 450hp (crank) truck. On launch it would wind up to about 4000 and then just drift up to the shift point as the vehicle speed came up. I don't know what difference it made in real numbers but it felt good. I also know that it was the same converter that the Ford off-road race teams used.

It was pretty loose for street driving. The truck would hardly move until the engine got to ~3000.

Try giving TCI a call. They custom make the converter to suit your application, it might be a bit more money than an off the shelf but it will be made for your application and therefore give you alot better results.

And if you don't want to spend the extra $$$ they probably could pair you up with one of their off the shelfs that will work out alot better than one you are guessing will work just because alot of people use them.

I have been dealing with engines for a while now and there are some things that I would be willing to take peoples opinions on and some things that I would rather let someone who makes them and deals with them every day tell me what I need. Cams, Converters, Port & polish work, etc...

I have had a suncoast performance in mine for 2 years now. A fair amount of 100shot nitrous launches on it as well. No issues at all.. including fluid temps measured during woodward dream cruise.

(Bought it through REM)
