Question How Do You Like Your Lightning?

I'm sure most of you will say, like me, I love it. But I am wondering if any of you can let me know if you've ever had any serious problems with your lightning? I'm a bit nervous with sport trucks ever since I owned a Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T......Out of the three years that I owned it I had more problems with it than imaginable!!!! I'm hoping I don't have the same luck with the f150...lol.
Also I'm curious about your fastest times at the track, any other info, etc. would be good....thanks guys.

You had problems because you had a DODGE!

You can search around for times. We run anywhere from the high 13's stock to low 10's with built motors KB's/Whipples/MP's/Turbos. JLP just went deep into the 9's, and I'm sure there will be more to follow in the not to distant future.

I have the "average" mods for the L, and I'm sure I can get well into the 12's with my numbers.

It all depends what you want out of a truck and how much your willing to spend. And everyone here loves there L.

You shouldnt have any problems with your Lighting unless the person you got it from beat the crap out of it!
There is a ton of things you can do to these if you got the $$$$$$$$$ and there are a few reputable tuners out there that can do what you want.
Most of the guys that post here have 11 second e.t. trucks, quite a few 10 seconders and a couple of 9's but that list is gonna grow soon too!

Good luck with it

Thumbs up

I don't think I could ever go back to driving a standard truck.

I have had my L since new...and I love it...just paid it off and now I love it so much that I am joining the "built motor club". I have just about every "bolt-on" imaginable and still want more...these trucks are so easy to make fast.

In the future, I may buy another new vehicle...but the Lightning is a "keeper"

Not to hijack the thread. But Falcon11 I was wondering why your torque is higher than mine? My mods are below and my torque is a lot lower. Maybe the high flows and midpipe?

Had mine for over 5 years now.

-intercooler replacement (was a recall on 99's)
-rough idle constantly
-electrical short in gauge cluster
-rear widow latch just fell off in the heat
-exhaust rattle
-many people have had the driver seat tear apart, I havent in 5 years of daily driving, so I don't know what these people are doing.
-many truck have spit spark plugs out due to a minimal amount of threads in the heads

other than that, i have had no problems with it. I have done all the brakes, oils, fluids, and filter changes on a more than regularly basis myself. Get one that has not been beat up and you will be fine

Love it, like emig5m said, don't think I could go back to driving a standard truck again. I owned a 2000 RT Dakota Amber Fire with Shaker Hood Roll Pan with Cuda Tips coming out of it w/Dodge Mod/Computer. Ran Mid 15's only problem I had with it three freeze plug gave way and had to be replaced. Gave the truck to my son and bought the L.

I have owned my Lightning for over 4 years now and the only time I ever had to take it to the shop was when I got the cruise control safety recall last year. However, the Chrysler products that I've had in the past seem to enjoy making frequent trips to the garage for service. Quite a contrast! As long as the past owner of your Lightning took care of it you should have many years of enjoyable trouble free driving with it.

I prefer my cobra over the lightning personally!

I might sell the lightning and buy an ls1.... and keep the cobra!

No, exhaust won't add torque unless your at higher boost levels. I guess I have an exceptionally strong truck. Even my tuner said those are the highest TQ #'s he has seen with those mods. Also the dyno and conditions make a difference. I was tuned at 16* timing with around 11.8 A/F across the board. Check with others that have a ported blower and compare your numbers. I've seen low torque #'s with the port, but actually your hp #'s look a bit low.
