Why would Ford let them out of the showroom with too thin of oil when they know they would have to deal with warranty issues if the motors went from too thin of oil? Honestly, I really don't think you'll ever notice a difference, but I just play it safe and use exactly what it calls for.

JFYI, my SVTL has the factory sticker under the hood, I noticed this yesturday, it says 5w30 is recomended. I always thought it was 5w20??? but anyways, I use

5w20 Mobil 1 Full Syn every 3k miles.

Castrol 5w-20 here. Used Castrol in every engine I've ever had and built, zero problems, very clean inside the engine everytime I checked, especially the CJ429 in my 70 Cobra Torino with different weight of course.

broke in my built motor w/ Motorcraft dyno then switched to Redline 5w30. There is a good book about Ford Mod motors and what is the best oil for them.

Royal Purple, Red Line, and Amsoil...if you can afford it. Seems most use Mobil 1 and is a good brand. Personally, I use Royal Purple.
