The GN is an awesome ride. I have driven one. I remember when Car & Driver posted the test of the first GN, they got the beast in 4.9 0-60. It was the April issue, and I thought it was an April Fools joke until I learned about it. They are highly modifyable to turn some amazing quarter times. The GNX was even slighly faster. They also look real bad.

Best friend has a GN, damn I love that car. His runs 12.5s with just a little work done to it. If you can find one in good shape DO IT.

Just my $.02

Forget about a Typhoon. I owned one before my Lightning, and although they are fun and fast, they are seriously unreliable.

As for the GN, have you ever thought of an 89 Turbo TA? It has the GN motor, with a few improvements. That plus the fact that the car is lighter means it is faster than a GN. Plus, you would have handling to go with the acceleration. GN's were never known for their handling ability.

Typhon is right, but the TA's still get a premium $$. If you go for any of those turbo'ed cars keep it within reason. It's very tempting to turn things up for more speed, but beyond mid 12's the reliabilaty curve drops expotentialy.

Thanks for all of the help and links.

I have a uncle in Flordia that had a friend sell a TTA last fall but I didn't have the money to buy it.

And I would love a TTA, they have leather, 4 wheel disc brakes, but with only #2000 (?) made, GN's are much easier to find.

I am suprised no one said I should get a Gen. 1 Lightning (is that a good thing or bad ?)
