Spinning tires and outside temperature
I've read a lot of posts from concerned owners unable to spin their tires from a standstill. I own a 00 L and at below, say, 55 degrees outside temp, I can spin the tires for as long as I like. However, above 70 degrees, not even a chirp!!! (My 93 Cobra is seemingly unaffected by such a trivial rise in temperature.) Are our motors, because of the supercharger, more affected by "good air" than naturally aspirated motors?? Are we apt to gain a greater amount of power in the cold, and loose this power more quickly in the heat and humidity?

Hey there,
I have noticed that I can chirp the tires whenever I want to. I have about 15k miles on a this set of tires and waiting for that call to start a davis-bacon (spell?) job for the summer. I really need the cash to buy a new set, or make these last until my dividend check comes in...
No joke, I can only romp on the gas from about 25 when I keep it in first, otherwise I spin. Temp is usually around 60 during the day up here. Hope it helps, 99 Black Lightning.

Yes cold air has alot to do with making horsepower. Heat kills horsepower.....
Tundra,
If you have 15000 miles on your 'L/tires bet you can spin your tires much easier

I have to agree with Strohm. Also as the tires get more heat cyles in them they tend to get harder. This results in a loss in traction and more spin off the line and less grip in the turns, be careful.
I'm at 10000 miles and still have 1/2 tread. Bet you I get 20k out of mine

And yes, I drive it like it was stolen, I just don't burn out much!

I drive way too much to have to put tires on every 10k. That would be about 3 sets a year - ouch.
