Heat Exchanger install
Heat Exchanger install
I ordered my New Fluidyne Heat Exchanger from Chickenears, should be here today. Would have bought it from TP, but he is apparently to busy to return phone calls or answer e-mails. Or maybe he is trying to get me to save my money.
Anyways.... I installed a supercharged engine in a 1998 4wd f-150. Since the front bumper is different, I plan on installing the exchanger behind the the bumper inline with the oval opening in the bumper.
Does anyone see a problem with this or have a better idea? I don't want to put it in the typical location because of the 4x4 front end skid plate.
Anything special to watch for with the fluidyne unit?

Yes, I'm keeping it 4wd. I used the Gem from the Harley donor truck which was obviously a 2wd. So I plan on rigging up some toggle switches to actuate the front axle solenoids. The transfer case is a manual shift unit so that shouldn't be a problem.
Wife said I couldn't get new tires on it for 2 months after she saw the black patches at the end of our road.
That 5.4 S/C sure is a sweet setup!

Mark,
That's a cool project! I have considered putting the L engine in my wife's Expedition. What tuning software are you using?
Good luck with the heat exchanger and buttoning everything up. Sounds like you're about done.

Sometimes the Fluidyne mounting brackets come installed backwards, so watch for that. Mine did, and I've seen a few others with the same problem. It will be very obvious which way they are supposed to go, once you trial fit it in place.
