I think this is why he asked you, "what would Ford do with a Z06". I hope you meant, "take it to Chevy". The new ZO6's would be almost impossible for a Lightning to beat, but not the older ones. I pulled on a older Z06 down low but he caught me on top, if we would have been racing a 1/4 i would of had him.Lightnings at high speed loose a lot due to there size, that's why the Vettes can overtake one up high.

I believe he was poking fun at you because you said after 500 miles to take the z06 back into the FORD dealership...

And you are slightly misinformed. Z06's put down about 440 stock to the wheels.. Now take off the stock air filter, throw on a set of LT headers, and you've got almost 500 to the wheels (492 I believe is what the GS Motorsports c6z06 did with just the air filter off and their LT headers).

I highly doubt that a built L, with a KB, would need nitrous to beat a stock C6Z06. I can personally get mid 11's, with street tire's. Probably could get low 11's, possibly 10's, with slick's (and flip to the race side).
No flame intended, I personally like the vet's!! I used to own one, but it was a POS 75 model!!

my logic behind it is that a zo6 c6 traps in the mid-high 120s stock..so at the drag strip, the L would stand a chance. from a roll, it'd take quite a lot I think to beat a z06 once you figure aerodynamics into the equation... There aren't a whole lot of L's without nitrous trapping 126+ is all I'm saying.

This thread has gotten really stupid. Who said anything about "heavily modded" L's with a KB and nitrous? The thread referred to in the ORIGINAL post discusses a LIGHTLY modded L with a chip, filter, and pulley taking on a C6 ZO6. Period. And as stated, there is no chance in hell that THAT kind of L could ever hang with THAT kind of Vette.

Disagree all you want - stick your head in the sand. Show me an L with ONLY a chip, filter, and pulley that traps at 120+ and I'll eat my words.

I was neck and neck with a c6z06 at ssotn last fall.

All I have is rancho's, 4lb, metco idler, monsterbox, jlp intake and WMS tune on xcal-2 and slicks

I ran 12.6 that run, best of the day was 12.4

My roomate was there and he was laughing his *** off because he knew the dude in the vette couldn't drive. I know even a decent driver will crack a 11 out of that monster.

Later in the day I saw the owner's son/friend crack of a mid 11 if i remember correctly.

Not for nothin but what is a c6z06?

2 completely different vehicles from the frame up.

I guess you mean a z06 look alike right?

I have raced several older z06's at E-town before I had the longblock and KB - I always beat them through the traps (barely)only because of the low end torq our trucks make but they always had a higher m.p.h. than me by atleast 4-6 m.p.h. going through the traps. Now I dont think a Lightning could touch a NEW z06 without being heavily modded - THOSE THINGS ARE SICK!

Still nothin hotter than a 10 second truck though!

Inform them the L with a few mods can walk a Vette
The author said a vette. Funny how one person wants to pick 50 plus years of vettes into one, the infamous zo6. Unbelievable. What about all the others that can not run with the L.

This one is much shorter, but still cuts to the point.

My cousin's mailman's bother's wife's son saw a Z06 once... I highly doubt the new Z06's are throwing down 500hp at the wheels. They're rated at 505 at the flywheel so you may see 450's at the wheels...maybe 470's if they're underrated by GM. And I'd love to be there when your 'uncle' pulls into the local Ford dealer to ask them for his 'retune'.
