About rear leaf removal.
About rear leaf removal.
After searching for a bit, I have found that you need to remove the second one from the bottom. You also have to get piston shims.
My question is, with already having 2" shackles, how much more of a drop will I get on average? it is a 2001.
How much and where do I buy piston shims from?
And I will be having this done at a shop, so how much should I expect to pay?
If there is anything else I have forgotten, please let me know, thanks.

Just did this last weekend. I have an 02 with 2" shackles and hitch/spare still on. I got an additional 2" drop by removing one leaf. I didn't add any shims. My guess would be around $150 for the work.

No pics yet as I plan to remove the hitch tomorrow, with the hopes of getting 1/4" lift. I have GF 1" springs and as it sits now the rear is about 1/4-1/2" lower than the front. The front measures 17 1/4" from center cap to bottom of fender. The look is nice.
btw - you will need to cut or replace the rear bump stops or they will be sitting on the axel. Also suggest shock exenders or different shocks since you will be looking at close to a 4" drop.

I have the same setup as svtdvm, and between the leaf removal and the 2" shackles I netted about a 3" total drop. As far as pinion angle, I am 5* negative which is just a little more than stock, but no vibration so I'm leaving it where it is. The stock shims are 2*. If I were doing it again, I would just remove them, which would gain another 1/2" drop and put the pinion angle just about where it should be. From what I understand you want to be 3* negative on the angle. Pay attention to the ebrake cable routing when reinstalling the leaf packs.
Does removing that leaf hurt your 1/4 mile times? If so, by how much? If this doesn't effect my 1/4 to much, I think I'm going to do this.
Thanks

I don't know if I really want this much more of a drop now that I am looking at it. I wish I could find someone with a 2" front drop, 2" shackles in the rear and a leaf removed, that would be the best possible way for me to judge this.

If anything it will HELP your 1/4 time. The rear suspension will be softer which equals better weight transfer which equals better 60ft times.
It will help you squat but it will hurt you around corners causing you to understeer a bit more.

Excellent, thanks for these pics, any chance you have measured where that left you in the front and back, and far as the distance from the center of the wheel to the wheel well? If not its fine, but that would be really helpful, truck looks great btw.
