Burninout101,

Some, but I haven't completed buttometer evaluation yet. Edelbrock finished their two week effort and I have the proto shocks on the L. So far they appear to be somewhat better than stock in the area of sweetening up the ground feel, i.e. the L handles & acts more like a Bimmer and less like a truck. Put another way, there is a controlled rubberoid compliance with bumps now where before there was more of a snap reaction. I've noticed no difference with cornering response. I'd say that so far I prefer them to stock, but I'm not yet sure that I'd prefer them if I had to buy them.

Sadly, what hasn't been cured by the new shocks is the washboard resonance problem where the L gets into an oscillation that threatens to shake it apart on certain concrete slab sections on SoCal freeways. However, there is a ray of light there. When I installed my A.R.E. hard tonneau yesterday and drove home on I15 South of Temecula I ran into some bad sections where I swear I could feel the same thing starting up in front as usual, but then it just died. The hard tonneau seems to be knocking down as much as 90% of the vicious oscillation and generally delivering a superb improvement in overall control of the bucking bronco rear end. I'll know for sure this afternoon when I ride home over a specific patch of freeway that I've traveled before... the L always tried to come apart there around 80, and this will be the proof. Edelbrock also indicated as have others on this BB that hard tonneaus help, but I had no idea it could be this much. I can't believe it is the additional weight because I had that much on there before when the tow bar and spare tire were still installed. I'm thinking that it might be something as simple as the reinforcement of the strength of the tops of the bed sides by the installation of the tonneau mounting... the additional bracing is probably not enough to force the vibes to stop, but may be playing with the resonant frequency of the bed & chassis; tricky. Also, some damping by virtue of flex in the lid could be occurring, but I can't see any flex in the rear view mirror.

Edelbrock will ship the first pairs of production shocks to me about the end of July, so that is the earliest availability in a purchase sense. I've asked for a second seed set of production shocks earlier to allow someone else to evaluate them as well, but I haven't heard anything back on that idea as yet.

What's neat with Edelbrock is, once you're in the door with an event like this they want to try other stuff; in this case I believe headers are next.

More as I get it.
