hey guys...
I have an 03 Lightning and the dealer's telling me the serpentine belt is gonna run me $400 - and I don't think that's with labor included ... anyway, does that seem about right - seems crazy to me ... I don't work usually get into the mechanics myself to much, but is this something I can easily do myself?

The accessory belt is a PITA to change due to the caged supercharger pulley. That price will be including labor.
If you have an aftermarket cageless style pulley the change is a breeze.

+1 That price is labor included. The belt it's self is around 40-60 bucks. 8 grove, and long as ****.

 

Change both belts yourself

It's an easy job to do.

 

As others have said, it's only easy if you have a cageless pulley. Otherwise, getting that pulley off is a real bear.

and while you have it off, put on an aftermarket pulley to avoid the problem again

Bill is your belt shot already ??? As people said the inner belt is a PITA if it's still got a caged lower Pulley on it.

But if your only talking about the outer serpentine belt (the one that goes up to the Supercharger), as said the belt price is 40-60 depending who and what you buy, and it can be switched in a few minutes, it's extremely easy to do.

 

why are you having to change the belt already?
