FFW at Richmond

I plan on going to FFW Richmond at the end of June and I want to try the tough truck class. If anyone here has been in it can you explain how its done, qualifying, racing, etc.

You get to make 3, "qualifying" runs. They then take a tenth second off your fastest pass and make that your dial in for eliminations on Sunday. It is a bracket style racing. If your dial is 12 seconds and mine is 11 seconds, you get to leave one second before me. I then have to catch you and just pass you to win. The winner is usually the guy who cuts the best light.

Go here for info on schedules and entry fees. http://www.funfordevents.com/

See you there.... Rocks TT6

Its very easy.

Get there on sat. morning. Tell them you want to run the Tough truck class at the gate.
Get in the tech line. (You will have to join FFW to run Tough truck) You can join in tech line.
Tech line is located all the way in the back by the fuel pumps.

Once there you will get your # and all the stickers you must run on your truck.
Then go park by the trucks (Usually located by the staging lanes)

You can go to the trucks before tech to unload and get a spot. Its up to you.

Then you hang out with the truck guys. Cool guys all of them. Wait for tough truck class to be called for qualifying. We make 3 passes on saturday and they take your lowest E.T pass and take off 1/10th for your dial in for sunday. So if you run 12.40 then your race dial-in for the whole day sunday is 12.30.

Then come hang out with us saturday night. We usually go to outback.

Come back sunday morning and get ready to Kick-***.

Look forward to seeing everybody there.

i will be there. i don't understand why they don't just do normal "set your own" dial-in bracket racing. so I guess most of you guys just sandbag with reduced timing tunes in qualifying.... or does anyone run a few extra lbs of sand in the bed ? a tenth is a BIG break out cushion. i don't understand why they call it a breakout cushion..... that IS your dial in right?

this will be my first FFW also, but i run normal brackets every week. so what goes on on friday? test n tune and car shows? any reason to be there on Fri other than to do some test n tune and see the sights?

i was thinking about bringing a small enclosed trailer with me for tools, tires and whatnot. WHich means i'd have to put my hitch back on

They do it to make it a bit more challenging. People do it all sorts of ways. Some even have weights mounted in the bed of the truck and take weight out to hit the dial. Yes...your dial is the number after they take off the tenth. So like V said above, if your fastest qualifying is 12.50....your dial on the window would be 12.40. You can't change it as you make rounds either. You have to hit that number all day Sunday. Like I said, it makes it just a bit more challenging.

I have seen as few as 16 and as many as 30. Richmond is usually a good turnout because of all the fellers from the north east coast driving in.

Friday is a good day to get a fix on how your truck is running at the track. Also...the first qualifying round is done Friday afternoon. Saturday is usually 2or 3 rounds depending on time allowed.

And no buy backs.

Nope, it only takes one round of qualifying. Many folks miss the Friday session due to work issues.
