I am planning to either remove or gut my converters on my new L. The reason why I am doing this is because even with 40 series Flowmasters my truck is way to quite. My only concerns is by elmininating the converters or gutting them will this hurt my L's performance? Also will my check engine light come on if I do this? Thanks, HANKFAN

When you go through inspection they will know. You're nitrogen levels will be through the roof. They will tell you you're cat has been hollowed or is bad and will fail you. The converters they have today really don't restrict exhause flow that much to warrant hollowing out the cat. You could always purchase an aftermarket cat, with a high flow rate. Besdes, hollowing out the cat won't make that much of a difference if you already have a performance exhaust, performance or sound wise. How many chamber mufflers do you have? Do you have the 4? The 2 is much louder.
