Cool A win and a loss at the same time!

Well, I finally did what I had wanted to do for a long time. I ran my L against my GS-400. Both are fun to drive and both are fast. My L has PSP's chip and filter and the Lexus has a factory 3 position chip which I left in "power" mode. My brother was visiting and drove the Lexus, I drove the L.

On a lonely stretch of road (7655 ft. elevation, 76 degrees), we ran from a full stop.

The L accelerated ahead of the GS by about three and one half truck-lengths and stayed that way until we ran out of road at 115 MPH. Later, punching it at about 40 MPH, we both stayed even until backing off for a curve at about 80 MPH.

My L is one of the slightly slower ones so I was a bit surprised by the results.

Mark up one kill for an L! Mark up one loss for a GS-400!

I haven't had as much fun since I soloed an airplane for the first time.

Are we having fun yet guys and gals?

You bet!

Hey adp,

I wish I got to solo an aeroplane! My next flight was to solo one at Embry Riddle, but they lost my money! Oh well, watching my flight instructor trying to land a Tampico from 1400' on short final was enough for me. Can you say Exceed Vfe? Then bounce down the runway, then execute a go-around? Yeah, she might be the Captain of your next Airline flight. You never know...

Tundra, how does it feel to be back in AK?

My first solo was in a Stinson L5 in October 1959. The airport was an old Korean war staging airport in Kyushu, Japan named Brady Air Base. The runways were made of PSP (Perforated Steel Platform, not Sal's chips) and were exceedingly rough. By the time I got to be an Airline Captain on UAL, I was senior to all the female pilots we hired. As a training and checking Captain, I got to train and check many female pilots, including the first lady Captain on UAL. For the record, the ones that I was associated with were uniformly talented and excellent pilots. Sometimes change is for the better.

Going WOT in my L is as close as I can get to performing the 28 degree nose up noise abatement proceedure at Orange County Airport (CA) in a 757.

Watch out for moose (or is it meese?)
