Question FOr Those Who Have Bassani Cat Pipes?
I am thinking about purchasing the Bassani catpipes for my 00 L. I currently have installed Flowmaster's on my truck but would like to install the Bassani catpipes. My question is does the Bassani catpipes make a big difference in the performance of the new L's? Does the catpipes have one converter or two? Lastley were the pipes hard to install and how much do they cost? Thanks, HANKFAN
Hankfan,
I have the full Bassani system on my '99. There's an article in trucking magazine about the install that I can photocopy and send to you if you like. I had the system installed. You need to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the engine a little to get the drivers' side on, so I didn't feel that comfortable doing it myself. The system came with dual cats. I don't know if you thinking about doing the whole system or just the cats and tail piece? I would think that if you were planning to go that route it would not be a horrible install and anyone with a modicum of mechanical experience could do it. I think that the various pieces (headers, cats, exhaust) can be purchased and installed separately without having to customize anything, but I'm not sure.
Hope that helps.

With my experience, I have installed the Bassani cat-pipes along with the Bassani cat-back system. And elected to stick with the factory exhaust manifolds, I myself have lost down-low torque, but have gained it back in the mid-range. Hope this helps..
