Lightning Commercial?
Lightning Commercial?
Hey guys, have any of you ever heard of Ford doing a Lightning commercial or anybody else for that matter. I did a search and the only things that come up is a weird review by BBC by some idiot and something about a BP commercial with the L in it but I couldnt find the video on it though. Also are there any videos that review the lightning like on some car channels like SPEED or something. Any help would be appreciated because I have never heard of any videos showing this kind of stuff.

Couldn't find any video footage but did locate two Motorweek written reviews. See http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2036.shtml for a writeup on the '01 and http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt1837a.shtml for the '99 writeup.
P.S. Actually, just go to http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/search/ford.shtml to access writeups of all the Ford products that Motorweek has tested since 1999.

I remember about 2 years ago I was at a honda dealer looking at a Bullitt on the lot. The keys got locked in the car and while waiting for the locksmith I saw a Ford commercial that showed the Lightning it was roasting tires and did a 180 iirc. It was a while back and I never saw it again but I know it was a L tearing it up, it really was fun to watch tq at work in a Honda dealer waiting lounge.

A couple of years ago I was driving home one evening. I was driving past a movie set and was flaged down. They were shooting a Ford Mini- van commercial. They wanted a ford product to do a drive by. So for $50.00 I went around the block and when the two way radio said to go I went .
The radio " faster" a little more on the throttle, radio " faster" more throttle.
Radio " faster" so i rolled in to the throttle. To bad it was still stock.
Done paid and never saw the commercial. It was the eurpoean model for 2005.
my 15 seconds of fame.

Also car and driver did a side by side test between the L and the Ram RT-10 and the L was slower in everything except braking but only by a little bit i bet that shames the Ram owners they paid all that money for that power and our cheaper less beefy trucks just about hang thats gotta suck.

"And while most of the credit goes to the suspension, the large beefy 18 inch wheels wrapped in Z-rated Goodyear rubber also play a significant role in the Lightning's high adhesion factor."
Any competent automotive journalist should know that it's the other way around. Tires are more important than minor suspension tweaks. Put the L suspension on a base F150 and put the L wheels and tires on another. The latter will whoop the daylights out of the former.
"And that goes for braking too. As we hauled the Lightning in from 60 in 119 feet. The brakes are large 12.1 inch vented discs with twin-piston calipers up front, 13.1 inch solid discs and single-piston calipers at the rear. And of course, ABS. Our drivers were surprised at the lack of feedback coming from the brake pedal. No ABS feedback, no noise, nothing. But fade is nonexistent and stability first rate run after run."
Again, moronic. The L brakes fade horribly. And "the lack of feedback" is a bad, not a good thing. The mushy pedal is a serious hindrance to aggressive braking techniques.
