Weight Reduction

What kind of stuff do you guys usually take off your Lightnings to reduce the weight of the truck? I know you probably take off the towing pkg and spare tire, but is there anything else you can take off. I heard that the cat. converter is really heavy.

Yea...take off the spare tire....tow hitch...and tailgate to reduce weight. Take off the front sway bar to assist in weight transfer and take some zip ties and cardboard and cover the front grill to pick up some speed.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys for the info. Just curious, why would I not want to run below 1/4 tank?

remove:
spare tire, hitch, spare tire wench, front sway bar, rear sway bar, passenger seat.

If you want to remove more:
replace rear bumper with light roll pan
OR
remove the cover and remove the rear steel bumper beam, then put the cover back on. (looks stock yet remove a lot of weight).

If you want to remove more:
In each door is a steel beam that weighs about 40# each.
Under the front bumper cover you can hollow out the steel bumper beam

If you go to Lightningrodder.com Wydopnthrtl did an excellent several series article on removing mass and the actual weight of each thing he removed.
Props Rich!
