How does the lightning tow??
I have an 05 5.4 SCrew F150 now and I love it. However, I may want to trade it in for the lightning and with the left over cash I can buy something cheap and use as a DD. However I do pull my 3200lb boat in and out of the lake aprox 3-4 times a year. When coming out of the launch ramp with my boat hooked up would I get alot of spin cus of the light weight and 2wd setup ? How is the towing on the other hand? Does the supercharger help or does towing put alot of strain on it? Please let me know what you think, I love my SCrew but Im gonna need a daily driver for my 40 mile trip to work. The lightning would be my weekend toy / LIGHT utility vehicle.
like a champ for that weight range you're talking about
take it easy, stay out of the boost for extended periods when coming up long grades at speed, and you'll be good to go. the power is almost unbelievable for towing, so you kind of have to fight the temptation to keep your foot out of it and blow by people on the interstate at 80+mph uphill! but that kind of driving under load causes some really excessive heat. my boat used to drag my blazer into the water, was kind of scary sometimes if i was going to fast, and it pushed me around some on the highway. but the LIghtning hauls like a champ. i highly recommend an 03 or 04 which as almost double the payload rating due to stiffer rear suspension. so you'll get less squat and better towing experience overall.
