Smile Proper protocol

Is it proper protocol to have a big smile on your face after you smoke a Mustang GT, or should you try to keep a straight face? Poor guy saw nothing but tailgate when the light turned green. He caught up at the next light and wanted to give it another go from about 15 mph with the same end result. I pulled off to grab some lunch and he followed me in to the lot. Nice guy. Wanted to know about the L and what makes a “truck” so quick. Got to hear the usual stuff about mods he was going to make to his GT. All I could say was “I see, well that will be nice”, using my best straight face of course.

Nice kill! I agree though, that a 14.0 sec GT (assuming its a '99 or '00 model...the '96-98s were 14.5 cars) isn't tough. You'll beat him after he does the mods. But, there's nothing wrong with smiling!

I think you were right in being respectful. The only time I get bent out of shape is when someone wants to race, they get beat, and then they cut me off or drive like an idiot in front of me nearly causing a wreck...after they do the old "losers blowby". For instance, I'm 200' ahead hit the brakes, slow down, try to go about my way and the guy drives like an idiot in order to pass me.

Then I whip out a few $ bills for bait (doesn't matter the denomination...it means the same thing) and they shut up and slow down _fast_.

There are so many Mustang owners that it's really hard to classify them into a single group.

This is a true story and I'm not proud of it, Saturday this 99-00 mustang just had to get around me rev, rev, rev off we go and this is too much with traffic and all. We make a left under a major interstate and I see a red light hit the breaks and what does the Mustang owner do, he nails it with 4 cars sitting at the light. Bam he hit this 70's Chevy PU and manages to wedge him self between this PU and a JAP car, I mean wam! It pealed his car into a $7000 piece of junk.

Is this a typical mustang owner, no they are women, but the others are 17 year olds males, JMHO! BTW I love stangs as much as the next but Ford hasn't made a stang since 1970

Yeah, I guess I've got two POS in my garage, and I'm 17 again. That'd be kinda cool actually (the 17 part).

I say all this completely tongue in cheek, F1. To each his own.

Not sure why you feel the need to make degrading comments about late model Mustangs. I understand what you mean regarding the younger people who drive late model 5.0s. There are a LOT of 5.0s out there and they are relatively cheap now. At least these kids are buying torquey v8s instead of something else.

And you thought I had an attitude...

There are all kinds of people that own Mustangs, and Lightnings for that matter. Most Mustang owners I come across just want to see what the L can do, and most seem to take pride in the fact that the only truck made now that can beat their 5.0 is made by the same company that built their car. But I did have one stanger flip me off after he got beat several times. I have also met a Lightning owner at the track that reminded me of a Buick GN owner know as RED (won't use his last name, but if you have been involved with a GN or t type it is the one your thinking of). I had my Cobra that day, and went to check out his truck. He was very arrogant, I didn't bother telling him I also had one. I'd rather not associate with someone like that. BTW I don't know many 17 year olds that could afford a new Stang.

OK guys when you nail it from 30 feet away from 4-6 cars parked at a red light you tend to peal your car into many pieces. AKA this is how to create a $7000 99-00 Mustang. What part about this sentence did you NOT get? Wes.

The part about a 17 year old was a reach on my part, yes. How about a 20 something young male going out of his way to impress me with his diving style and was simple driving a mustang. I thought that I could imply this but no. Is this more palatable?

I do not like newer Mustangs simply because they are to small for me to fit in, OK this is my problem and when rereading my posts it seems to reflect that way. These things might be the best things in the world to some but they don't have a rear suspension.
Nor do they have the same fit and quality as an L. Also at only 6'2" my head sometimes touches the roof, I hate this, if I didn't I’d be driving a NSX with my neck bent at a 90 degree angle.

But to contradict myself I LOVE 1970 MACH 1's totally to die for.
