Thumbs up Exhaust, headlights, etc......

Hey all, havent been online 4 awhile comptr prblms, looks like I missed alot

Just to let you all know I installed the dynomax mufflers, WOW just the sound I was looking for. Haveing owned a 91 stang with a full mac exhaust I was really missing that deep rumble. Well not anymore those mufflers rock!!!!

Also received some superwhite headlight bulbs (thx JoeLightning!!!!) they are fantastic, but with the fogs they just didnt look right, too yellowish. So I installed some "blue" H3 bulbs lastnight in the fogs, mucho better.

Anyways good to be back (having my computer back) & enjoy looking through pas posts.

I went with the dynomax pn #17276 (dual in/out single muffler) after lots of reaserch on the different ones made (and the wealth of info here). Seemed like the very best for the money. I know you will want an explantion of the loudness, but it is hard to say. To some it might be too loud but for others not loud enough. You can (@ all rpms) tell there are louder mufflers, especially @ WOT. Not too loud with the windows up & radio on, but still there. It sounds deeper & raspier!

Now for the power ? everyone has, Let me first start off by sayng that some people were worried that with a lowre restrictive exhaust you may lose low end torque - NOT! think about it, we can roast our tires in first & second gears, do you think I am worried about losing some of that - NO! If I floor it and break the tires loose, what advantage is that? So I wasnt really concerned about losing a little low end, especially if I can gain some hp up top.

Well after I got it back, NO loss of any tq! As a matter of fact, when I hit second gear, the rear tires spun for over 2 secs, I felt like the truck was "floating" then the tires chirped, then I took off. I havent tried from a dead still yet, but it seems to have a very slight increase in hp. So all-in-all for the $300 invested (mufflers & install) I am one happy camper!!!!

Hopes this helps out!

Oh some goos info for you all, on the 2001 models here's some more news on the changes being made: clear front lenses, newly redisgned grille, (get this) quiter exhaust (read this & wonderd if it was a misprint), I think they mentioned new tail lights, it seems there was somthing else but I cant remember what it was in the looks dept, hum what else........ oh ya "more hp" yes folks they are going to up it. Seems that they (Ford) want to drop the published #'s of 14.7 to 13.9-13.8 in the 1/4, claiming will be bumping hp up to 380-385 by playing with the cmptrs settings! From what I gathered, they are not going to just advertise what the real #'s are, but are actually going to be getting more hp outta the engine!

Enjoy!

Yoda,

Would you by any chance have a picture of your newly installed Dynomax? Since you went with a 2 in and 1 out how does it look?

Thanks

Sounds to me like most 2000 lightnings are getting 13.9 at least at sea level. So far Ive seen 2 run 13.7 stock. My truck is a sled,Im gonna start pounding it to make up a couple of tenths. As far as the 2001 goes,I believe they are going to be doing basically what the "chip makers" have been doing all along.Probally just not as extreme.Figure a 2000 lightning is good for a 13.5 at sea level all day long with a superchip,Ford is probally going to be good for 13.7s all day long with a minor tuning.Funny ,If they are claiming 13.9 stock,They might even run 13.5 stock. If that happens and no internal mods are done,Doesnt this mean all e have to do is buy a new 2001.5 computer????Also the "chip makers" are going to have a tough time sqeezing more HPs out of it.

Maybe just recalibrate your current computer for the new model year.

Yoda,
I was wondering what happened to you. I need to see/hear/go for a ride in this thing. Any chance we can hook up this weekend? You planning on the Pavillions?

Question

Did I miss something ?

"Yoda:

"jarmstro:
Since you went with a 2 in and 1 out ..."

It looks to me like he still has a single muffler (same as stock) with 2 inlets and 2 outlets (same as stock), only the muffler design/manufacturer is different, ie Dynomax.
