Question Question for snuglid owners?

Going to order a snuglid. I think they look the best. Got a couple question. Will I be able to keep the ford bed liner? I was told the over the rail lip at the front of the bed would cause mounting problems. How should I have it mounted, with the clamp on kit or let them drill into the truck? They said the clamp on kit is an extra $60.00

The installer should place a L bracket at each front, top corner of the bed. The hindge bracket is mounted on top of the rail. If your Ford liner protrudes to the rail or over the rail , it will interfere. Best thing to do is trim the liner if needed or get rid of it and buy a Bedrug. Cleaner install and looks much better than a plastic liner. ( You can sleep or lie horizonally if you want to call it that, in the back of your L on a bed rug, try that on plastic and she will never speak to you again!!!!)

collins8,

Don't know about the stock bedliner issue.
Here is what I can tell you about the two mounting methods:

Clamp on kit:
Pro-no drilling into your bed.
Pro-No screws mounted in bed to loosen.
Con-the snuglid sits about a 1/4" higher on the bed, thereby exposing about 1/4" of the bed rails. This can be seen from the side as well as the back.

Drilling into bed:
Pro-sits lower than clamp on and completely covers the bedrails.
Con-I've seen discussion that the screws can loosen in time.
Con-holes must be drilled in your bed.

Hope this helps.

I was told my the installer that the Clamp on system is tough to keep aligned. Mine is drilled.

FYI... I have the clamp on system and you can not see the bed rails. At least on my truck.

Redrocket,
I also live in TN, what city are you close to? I am near Knox and Chattanooga. How much did you pay for the snuglid and wher did you get it?
