Post Air Fuel Ratio Gauge

I just got finished installing some autometer gauges on a pillar mount. The setup is pretty slick with the boost and air fuel ratio gauge. At cruise or normal driving the air fuel gauge jumps between rich and lean due to the PCM and emission standards. But when you crack the throttle agressivley the gauge jumps to the rich section of the meter like it is supposed to. It is nice to keep an eye on it under acceleration to detect a possible lean situation. The only problem is I need to find an ignition fuse in the inside fuse box to hook it up so the gauge is activated when the ignition is turned on. Now it is hooked up to come on with the headlights. Any suggestions?

Slick X - When I hooked up my V1 I wanted it to come on when I turned on the ignition and go off when I shut it off. This sounds like what you are looking for. I get a little concerned about cutting into the wiring so I used a fuse tap. You pick a fuse in the box (left lower dash), pull it out and place it in the tap. Next put a second fuse in the tap that covers the power for the item you are adding. Put the tap into the fuse block where you took the original fuse out. Connect the new toy to the power wire coming out of the tap and hook up your ground. Works like a charm and you can remove it any time you want. You can find the fuse tap at most any auto parts store.

Good luck.

Hey Hwy_2_L: I see by your sig you've got the V1 w/remote mount. Where'd you mount it? I've got the same on order and am curious where you put yours...

Roger - Sorry for the delay in answering. I just got back into town. Here are some quick pictures of the V1 install. You can only see about 4 -5 inches of cable at the V1 and an inch or so at the remote. I fished the cable through to make the install as clean as possible. These might be hard to see since I took them at night. If you have questions, let me know.

Question

Anyone found a good way to mount the V1 other than the Suction Cups ?? I like to be able to pull mine down in interesting neighborhoods, and the cups fail to reattach after a few months. The visor mount works between the console and the Visor up in the headliner but it is loose and tends to hide up where you cant see the display behind the visor.
