Sorry about your thread, Cliff. I really am. I'm just tired of Tim's constant condescension. I'm done. This was never about tires.

I apologize if I came off that way. I like to communicate directly and succinctly, especially in a forum like this where economy of words is important.

But if this was all about a beef with me, why invent imaginary math errors? And why attack Mondo? How about a simple "shut up Tim, you arrogant *ss."

I also apologize to Cliff for my part in taking this thread off track (although for me, it was always about tires). When I wear out my new set of F1s, I may give the Toyos a try. I'm getting the impression that they are somewhere between a street tire and a full-on race tire like Hoosiers, correct? I would like to get some increased grip, but don't want to break the bank with a tire whose life is measured in minutes. Or use tires that allow me to drive faster than my angel can fly.

Tim, the Toyo's are DOT tires but wouldn't last
very long on the road. They are a whole lot
closer to Hoosiers than street tires. Sticky
as H E Double Hockeysticks ...

I might as well recoup some of the hijack ...

After Sebring I have this for some lucky Mootang Owner !!!

You know you want it!!! It's on EBAY !!!

Well, they joked that they weren't going to sell me any
more raffle tickets at the track. But they did. And I won
the big one again ...

FOR SALE: PMP Swing Door kit for 1994 - 2004 Mustang

Hey Cliff,
If you put that kit on your truck, we're going to have to talk...

So what are your impressions on the RA-1's.

Tim,
The threadwear on the RA-1's is 100. You really want to save them for the track and they don't make 20's but I assure you that they will take your truck to a whole different level. Like a buddy of mine says, you can take a lousy car and put sticky tires on it and it will be quick and that also applies to a pick up truck. No amount of suspension modifications can make up for the grip that you will get with R compound tires.

I don't think I attacked anyone (Aside from the picture that was supposed to be humorous.). If not admitting to being wrong, when I'm right (Only my girlfriend receives that courtesy; but, she pays me well for it.) is attacking, then I'm guilty. In the beginning, it was about the tires. It became a matter of principle. (Though I did try to stay on topic.) I don't think anyone came out looking too good in this exchange. You always bring out the best in me.

Sorry again, Cliff. I'm not trying to get the last word. I just wanted to clear that up.

Diameter of each tire:
295/45/18: 28.45" Side Wall Height: 132.58mm
305/35/18: 26.40" Side Wall Height: 106.68mm

Side wall difference of 25.9mm
25.9MM X 2 side walls = 51.8 MM

Difference of: 2.05"
or and Diameter Difference of 7.21%

there.. that put that to rest.

Yes. A smaller tire will give you an overall lower gear ratio. You will accelerate faster. It would be like going from a 3.73 to a 4.0:1 gear set.

A smaller tire will spin more per mile and a taler tire.

Hasta la Chimichanga!

I have a few old ones on my home page from 2004. A bunch of work has been done since then.

No reservations that the stock rims are 1/2" below the minimum rim width (10.0 min, 11.0 measuring width, 12.0 max)?

I was also concerned about this when I bought them but no they fit perfectly.

This does not apply to all tires of that size but comes down to the construction of the tire. (the way it is built).

No issues there.

The RA1's are magnificient.

Not as sticky as Hoosiers ... But I ran HARD all weekend
and I just barely scrubbed them in. I think I am gonna
like these (especially the better wear!).
