I see you got a Th400 for it (good choice) but who's converter are you going to use? I see alot of guys going with Neal Chance because they can't get there's right. If you can't get it right don't mess around go right to them. Big money but the best converter money can buy.

i have a feeling that TH400 wont be in there long. with that trans the truck is gunna fall on its face in 3rd gear.

unless some how he gets a lock up converter for it. but i dunno enough about the TH400 to know if they make lock ups for it.

Why would a converter not locking make a truck fall on its face???? The only thing that would effect is if it makes mph up top.

Ralphs truck runs a Th400 with a chance converter and he has gone deep in the 8.50's (but I guess Johnny makes more power then him right?

watch the video of the X2C turbo cobra video.... it come out REALLY hard. then after it does to 3rd it just falls on its face. its still making crazy power but the converter not locking up in 3rd is killing it.

is ralph running a lock up converter? like i said i dont know enough about TH400's to know if they make a lock up converter for them.

but if he swaps the th400 for a lenco 5 speed he'll pull like a **** on the top end

the reason it doesn't pull in 3rd gear is because at that point the load on the converter is increased, and they actually blow through the converter. The reason why the lock up converters help this is obvious, it locks the clutches keeping this from happening. But you have to look at the real reason why it is doing it. The converter just can't handle the amount of power to load that is being applied to it. Some times a 500 dollar converter just isn't going to cut it.

Ralph's trans/converter is NOT a lockup converter. But yet he still has gone 158 mph.

Guys are quick to say that (you have to have a lockup converter or it will fall on its face) but the fact is guys that have switched from a trans with a lockup converter to one without haven't got the right converter for the job yet.

Jamie's right....its all in the converter. To get a converter to work within the somewhat limited rpm range of a 2V motor and then be able to stall enough to get both turbo's spooled and then be tight enough to pull the mph that the truck it capable of is a very tall order for a torque converter...I'd say about 1800.00 bucks ought to cover it

Air goes straight into the cab through the firewall into the intercooler and right back out into the intake on the engine.

Nice set up Johnny!!
