Post Sixpipes and Moonshine

I was looking at the Dyno Numbers from a few weeks ago again and noticed a column I ignored before. Not sure but it looks like torque, but the numbers arent high enough to be right. And to really confuse the issue if Power (hp) = Torque (ft-lb) * RPM / 5252 then how would the dyno guy know torque if he didnt have a RPM sensor on the truck ??
Unless you use Power (hp) = Force (lb) * Velocity (MPH) / 374 - Where the Force is calculated from the dyno and he knows the wheel speed also from the dyno drum.... Hmm now I am confused.. I'll grab a beer and think it out some more.... Here is a chart including the mystery column Send Me an email and I will send a chart of your runs with the torque column

Hi Silver,

Wow it's really hard to read this type of dyno run.

How can you be making 250 hp at 50 and 325 hp at 135 at the same rpm? I know not exact.

If you look at my dyno run it was made in 3rd gear between 80 something and 115 something. It’s much easier to diagnose a small section of a hard dyno run than to compare an entire 0-130 blast.

I have a feeling that you may not like Dallas mustang but at least give them one try.

If my memory serves me correctly it's $50 for 3 pulls, and you can compare your run to mind on their database.

Go get um!

It has nothing to do with like or dislike - I just don’t respect someone ( Dude from DM ) who makes wild claims that are not backed up by ET’s.... But leaving that behind us... I definitely plan on having another Dyno set done, This time after my truck cools a bit and hope fully when I have My chip and filter - Perhaps even a before and after... There are a bunch of good places to Dyno in town DM is one of them. NOw that I am more comfortable with how to do it, I hope there wont be the big dip at the beginning of the run. Duh!

Doug,

I'm surprised by your response; I have total respect for you. You where nice enough to meet me at Hooters that afternoon.

As a friend I only thought you would be interested in comparing dynos to see where we stood.

I can see in my past posts where I could be promoting DM, I'm not. I feel that we can use them to our advantage, that is WE.

If you are totally set against it, cool, but between you and me, I don't want any hard words sir, I would like us DFW L guys to get along, even if I pissed you off in some matter!

Best regards.
Paul

Whoa ..... I meant the Dude from DM not you.... See clarification above... No worries, I just think it is foolish as a businessman to make those statements. If he were here on the board making claims we would just think he was Mad's brother... And ignor him...

I have been there twice, didnt see anything associated with L's in showroom and when I asked a couple questions about L parts they didnt seem interested in helping...Maybe i was there on wrong day or talked to wrong guy...

I would be quicker to compare Dynos if i hadnt already been trounced by Sixpipes and Moonshine... Of course i blame it all on the guy behind the wheel, I know my L has more HP in it....

Well Doug,

That was my original point, with the type of dyno run you took. I doubt that you where really out done with 6 pipes and friends! I just think that’s a pretty poor example of a technical dyno run to examine.

Lets look at this place in Addison that runs the same type of dyno as DM.

Now I guess I'm just looking for happy middle ground, so to say. BTW I'm not looking to out do you; in fact you can have my chip when I get Sal's if you want it.

I guess that I'm the experimental type.

Cool

Doug -

I'm ready to make another Dyno run when you are. I think our little experiment was pretty interesting even if other folks thought it a bit odd. Horsepower vs. Speed makes a pretty neat comparison. The effects of gears and chip/filter mods was easier to see when charted using mph. I think the more Lightnings we can get at a session the better.

I agree - relating to speed is good for me since I can understand that as it applies to running down the track or the street.

I would have liked to see him take the time to add the Tach sensors so that we could get some more data but - That is what next time is for. I charted the Torque? numbers off the data he gave me and it is all over the place one of the runs it was over 500

Flats Man -

If that ever happens, you have my permission to take me out in the woods and shoot me. Don't you think an SVT Contour is enough?

Doug -

Lets try to put something together (Dyno) in the next month or so. You do realize you probably won't have your PSP stuff by then?
