Post Calling WYLDMAN

I belive ,that I saw you post your truck was not one of the fast ones. What was yuor times at the track, before and after chip(and other mods)? Are trucks are close in the build numbers, and I was wondering if my truck is like yours. My et's for 1/8 mlie track are not the same as others posted here on the board, and with the chip I did not see a full tenth of a second drop in et. Did you ever run another lightning when you was stock, and if so how did it go? Thanks

William,

Unfortunatly we did not have one of the faster Lightnings, stock. Stock, out at Houston Raceway Park we turned 14.3's consistantly.

Mind that this was end of summer. Closer to November, we started mods, First was Sal's Filter setup, that put us down to 14.1's and 14.0's. Then went with Sal's chip too, then started running high 13.7's, this is when traction problems started.

Got the Cal-tracs and some BFGoodrich T/A DR's which helped for a while till we went with the 80 shot N2O, which put us down to 13.2's. After that, we went to the Hoosier road-racing tires (26" overall hieght), on the 18 inch rim and it helped till we did the headers and upped the NO2 to 100 hp Shot.

We had even worse traction problems at that point. Then came along the 3.73 gear, which puts the final drive to about 4.13 (again, not good at all for the bite problems)!

Then we got M/T Street ET's. With the M/T's still being 26 inches tall and the 3.73 gear, we maintained the 4.13 final gear.

Dad can now launch with NO2 "armed" and brake-torquing up to just under 1700 RPM, getting all the bite he can use now.

All in all we run low 8.4's to high 8.3's in the 1/8th mile at Lone Star Race Way. But best 1/4 mile time at HRP was 12.85 at 103.6 MPH (with out 3.73 gear, & M/T's).

I hope this helps!
