Disappointing new best, and I broke something

Went to a no hooking track friday night, and burned in the new slicks. First (and best) run was a 12.52 @ 109.87. Second run (track was packed) after I shelled my posi was a 12.61 @ 108.9x .

Not happy but it is my new "best" time. First run I had a 1.92 60 foot, and the second was a 1.96. I netted a 1.92 on f1's.

These are my first runs on slicks, so I really didn't launch it hard the first time, and didn't get on the bottle till the 60 foot mark. The second time (before I knew my posi went) I launched harder and jumped on the button right out of the hole. That really made for a squirrely ride. What should I expect out of a 60 foot, and how hard can I launch my truck with 10 inch slicks (c07 compound) and slappers? Will I ever be able to get on the bottle for the launch?

Now I just need to call Mark@LFP and get a true-trac. I have been into rear ends before, is the install on a true-trac pretty straight forward? I have done all the wrenching on my truck so far, and I hate to spend money I don't need to. Thanks all,
Justin

BTW: First run on the tires was @ 20 psi, second I dropped them to 18. Should I look into bead locks, and drop the pressure to 14 or so?

Your 60ft will improve with more passes on the new tires. It takes quite a few runs to get to the good traction.

and you can hit it with at least 100HP of Nitrous FROM A DEAD STOP
"with no problem at all". Even on a bad launch using a hundred shot
"instantly", you should expect hi 1.5's to low 1.7's pretty much every time .
One has to assume your Posi unit was the cause of those bad 60 ft's,
or that track is even worse than you say.

Sorry to hear bout the posi unit
CONGRATS on your New Personal Best

Thanks Silver, the tires were BRAND new, never even bolted on a truck. I will have to, ummmm, "heat cycle" them a couple of times on a backroad somewhere before the next track day, after I put in a locker.

Thanks Rob. I am happy with the first run, but words can't describe the track. The prep is better on a broken down side road. There is NO way to drive around the water in the right lane. The left you can go around the water, but the officials try to rush everyone through so quickly (test and tune isn't squat to them) that they get pissy when you try to go around the water, back up, heat the tires, pull up, clear the motor, pull up and stage, then go.
I was very disappointed in my 60 foot times, but they felt a ton better than on toyo's .

I really want a maximiser, but I already have a minimax, and will probably just use that. I need to up the shot and try for 11.99.

One dead posi, will equate to one new locker.

my 60 fts on slicks has always sucked. i run up to 23lbs and i wish i could spin but that ain't the problem. granted i'm only at 400/472, but it sucks to be turning high 1.9s on slicks. my diff is going also, but that isn't the problem. it's running consistent so i'm not changing anything for the moment since i bracket race every week, but it still sucks. so don't feel too bad, you ain't the only one with slow 60s.

argh, i just ordered a new set since mine are spent after about 30 races. they've went up in price since last year
