Arrow sixpipes, HELP!

I would love your input!!!!

I noticed on one of your posts that you changed from 3.55's to 3.73's.

I have been considering the change myself until J&S Differential and Superchips both indicated that there is only 200RPM difference beteen the two with no noticeable difference in performance and not worth the $$$$$. If one wanted a difference, go to the 4.10's.

I do not race against the clock on a strip. So I am not looking to shave .2 seconds off my time. I drive it to and fro but I love performance.

Did you find a BIG difference between the 3.55's and the 3.73's or was it SLIGHT? Or did you not notice any real change at all??

Cool

I like the difference. Being a conservative type guy (yeah right), I decided to go with the 3.73s. The 4.10 guys seem to love theirs as well. At 60 mph my speedo says 65. That is almost a 10% difference and is definitely "noticeable".

The recent dyno test (hp vs. wheel speed) done at Wells racing in Duncanville, Tx illustrates the difference better than I could explain it.

Moonshine and Silver_2000s dyno results were almost identical. My results indicated about 40-50 horsepower more throughout the useable rpm range. The peak horsepower range was only about 20 hp difference from stock. Look at the shift points on the graph with relation to mph. My shift points are earlier than either stock "L" so I am in a different rpm range at the same speed. In other words, my truck is in a more efficient range at the same wheel speed. Sure, I have additional mods that help me achieve a higher overall horsepower number, but line up the shift points with the stock "L"s and the horsepower differential is not nearly as wide. (I believe the Superchip also moves the shift points on my truck to a higher rpm range, but you get the idea.) Hope this helps.

Sixpipes,

Now that you mention it, that diff of 40-50 hp in the usable range is impressive. Are you able to split that into pieces; i.e. 20 hp for the gears, 20 hp for the chip, 10 hp for the color of the truck, etc? It seems to me that the torque multiplication going from 3.55 to 3.73 isn't enough to explain the bulk of the gain; I'm speculating that is is mostly the chip doing this. How do you see it?
