Unhappy Feel The Vibration!

Hiya,I've had my 2000 lightning for about 3 weeks. One thing I've noticed is that at over 40mph when I just let the truck coast I get a vibration that seems to be comming from the rear end. It dosen't happen under acceleration or braking. The vibration isn't bad, just enough to be noticable and dosen't happen all the time. I was wondering if anyone else has this or knows what it is or if it is just normal so I can stop worrying. Thanks for the info.

Jack

My L is also about 3 weeks old, and I thought I had a similar vibration, but now I've decided it is more like rumble from backing off coming out of the exhaust than mechanical vibration. I imagine some long term owners will know more.

I haven't noticed anything like that in my 99. But I would try to figure out how to do it consistantly and show it to a ford tech. I would not try to solve it myself. When my muffler blew off at WOT, the first time, I thought about putting it back on myself, but I took the advice of a friend of mine and start letting that extended warranty pay itself off. It has happened three times, and the last time the ford tech had the guts to ask if it was a stock exhaust system! I told them about the previous times, and they knew about it because it was in the computer... Sorry for the rant.

I too have vibration and know what you are talking about during throttle lift. Think it is just exhaust back pressure.

However, you might look at a couple of these posts by me to see if there is any resemblance:
