Angry Help with TransGo Kit Install

I'm about ready to tear into the tranny to install the TransGo shift kit. I ordered it from the place in Portland (Trans Exchange).

The question I have is: Do I have the right kit? Although I told them it was for a 99 L, they sent me a "E04D" kit and video. Now I understand the 4R100 is just an updated E04D for the most part, is this the kit I should be installing?

Nowhere can I find any reference to any diesel settings just a graph that reads:

All Shifts:
Softer RED ORANGE YELLOW WHITE Firmer

Any particular shift (1-2 or 2-3):
Softer WHITE BLUE ORANGE YELLOW Firmer.

I'm thinking on YELLOW for the top and ORANGE for the bottom, or if I do that will it make it too firm? I want a 35% throttle 1-2 chirp but I don't want my head banging off the rear window on a WOT 1-2 either.

Also, in some other discussion about the shift kit, (I believe JIGAWATT?) made a reference to drilling holes only in the add-on accumulator plate, which can be removed without leaving any sort of witness mark. The instuctions I have talk about drilling the valve bodies in addition to replacing springs, ***** and such.

Any / All help mucho appreciado as I was intending on doing the mod this afternoon.

I used TransGo part #E40D-HD2-D. Wes got another and said it was "updated". I'm not sure of the part number. The kit that you are describing sounds like an older kit, #E40D-HP ? If there is no reference to the 4R100, box it up and send it back!! Hope this helps.

Kevin: Thanks for the info. I was afraid it was the wrong kit - it says only E40D on the side of the box. I had the pan off, double checked everything, and then decided against proceeding. All was not lost however, as I was replacing the pan with the 4x4 version anyways. Fluid looked good and the magnet was clean.

I'll box it up and call them tomorrow for a return #. Thanks again.

I got the same kit # that Kevin referred to. The instructions were a bit updated from the ones he sent me to look at, but everything was in the same location.

Should have an accumulator VB plate and the spring placement is _very_ detailed and precise. There's no guessing...they tell you exactly which combination of springs to use.

After talking with Phil at Trans Exchange, he gave me the main TransGo number which I called and talked to Larry.

Larry told me that I had an older kit, and that everything should be ok except some checkballs and gaskets (oh ya, minor stuff like that <g> ), so I just called Phil back and told him I wanted to return it. I hadn't opened any of the parts packages yet, just the video, so they didn't give me much flak about it. I did miss my 'window' so-to-speak, as I wanted to have that in by this Wednesday for the drags, but I still might have a local tranny shop do the mod (maybe swap the kit for the new one?).

Anyways, thanks for the tips.

I ordered mine tonite. They gave me the same part # as Wes stated. I then went to the Ford dealer and picked up 4x4 trans cover and filter. Now all I need is the time to do it.

gives you about a quart more fluid and a drain plug .cost about $35.00 and you will need a 4x4 filter.drain plug alone makes it a worth while investment.im putting my kit in this weekend and will post results.
