EGR delete guys in here.

I've read up and decided I'm going to delete the EGR and crap on that bracket, but keep the BAP sensor. Now I see alot of guys blocking off the EGR flange with a plate. Has anyone cut it off and welded the plenum up? Seems like it would make for a smoother look.

Just for reference this project is an 02 L drivetrain in a 1950 F1 so she needs to look good under the hood and doesn't need all that garbage. Anything else I can remove that doesn't need to be there?

I think that's doable. The only really important face that need to be flat is the one to the blower. And you could easily skin that if the upper plenum warped.

I'm keeping mine as a bolt on because I never know where I'll wind up in the future.

Ok, in the process of this. My next question is if I remove the first 3 sensors/gadgets, does my boost bypass valve still work? I know alot of guys disable it but doesn't that hurt MPG (like that's an issue) and reliablity?

I'm at work and limited to what pictures (and sizes) I can find or post,
but these may help....

This is what you take off

The item you DONT SEE in the square yellow box is all you need to keep
As seen here in this picture

That picture is old and it looks much better now
I have a diff delete plate, and the sensor is mounted properly thanks to JDM.

(in a jam you can make a delete plate up in like 2 seconds from anything you have laying around, thats what you see in the above picture. I used a electrical box blank plate, then simply cut, drilled, and painted it)

Here's a little better picture of what it looks like with no EGR

CAN YOU SAY NO PROB CHANGING PLUGS, WOO HOO!!!!!

Here's how you plug off the header EGR Connection (or stock exhaust).
You use a standard "Hose Cap", you can get one at any Home Depot or local Hardware store, of course you want bronze not plastic, hehehehehe.....)

As for the Boost By-Pass, these days they take care of that in the tune,
so "I GUESS" ??? you can do as you wish with that. But I'd make sure it's ok to delete it all together, mine is still there and to tell you the truth I'm not sure what JDM did, By-Pass in tune "or" By-Pass at the Acuator, either way I now have over 20lbs and it's plenty (Big Smile)......

but does it (bypass) still work? In other words if your truck is running and you are watching it, if you rev it up does it move, or does it stay closed?

Yes after deleting my EGR my Boost By-Pass worked as it always did,
and yes you can still see it move when you give it gas. I did the delete quite some time ago and I have done exactly what you described and watched it open and close many times. Just remember there are also some vac lines that need to be changed/modified during the EGR delete. Let me see if I can find the link (as said I'm at work and limited to what I can get into) @#$@($*@$*(@$@$

Here it is, Chiz did a great job explaining it amof this is what I used when I deleted mine. Chiz's EGR DELETE POST

Pay close attention to the Vac Line changes and modifications, I screwed something up originally when I did mine and drove around months with no
use of the actuator AT ALL. So to answer your original question I guess in theory you can eliminate it (BUT I dont know if it's recommended)
I always spoke about how loud my Whine was "even on idle" (IT WHINE'S LOUDER WITHOUT THE ACTUATOR WORKING ; o )
Sal found it not working and fixed it for me, I think I had the pink and black switched ???

To the guys who eliminated the EGR, did any of you go through emissions testing without the EGR? Will I fail without my EGR? I have emissions testing in a few weeks and need to know if I should worry about it.

Mines passed with flying colors two years in a row with no EGR
You do of course have to modify your Chip/Program for the EGR Delete, You all know that RIGHT ??? (otherwise you'd throw a code and prob would fail an inspection )

As long as the computers been modded for the delete you have no worry's Mines passed on a PSP SCT Chip, and on a JDM X-Cal2 so the Tuners know exactly what to do, Brahmus if you didnt already know that by any chance make sure your computer program gets modified for the EGR Delete.

I'm ignorant, what is the benifit to the delete, is it just for a cleaner look or is there performance to be had? Anyone else had trouble passing emissions with this mod? I am all game but can't afford not to pass when it is my daily driver.
