Post Chip installed

I just installed a Superchip, fantastic!

I notice a vast improvement on the pure brut force.

But I do have a question for those of you that have a chip.

While driving along around 50-60 mph and I stab it, the engine and blower scream. The tack jumps instantly into the red zone, the PSI jumps to 10 and the engine and blower sounds like it is wound to tight.

It makes me nervous. Sounds like it might blow up.

Have you noticed the same? Is all OK?

I back off instantly thinking that the whole thing is going to come a part.

Blue Blood

That was a fast response BUT do I have anything to worry about? Is the engine and blower wound too tight?

Cool

I believe it was Bill Murray who put it best: It sounds like lions mating.

Jim,

Trust me, it's normal, ok, and cool as h_ll! Scares the bejesus out of F bodiies in particular, especially if they're on the right side of the truck w/the window down. Tends to singe the beard hairs a bit as you blast by.

Enjoy!

I want to thank everyone for the info.

I was able to go to WOT today without wondering if it was going to tear apart.

THANKS

FORDSALES (Jim)- I have a question for you:
Does your superchip cause any detonation/ pinging? I spoke to Superchips factory on 5/4/00, they told me the CUX2R2 file for the 2000 Lightning was finalized on 4/26/00. Prior to this they just converted the 99.5 CUX1 file to the 2000 format. They ran 3 2000 Lightnings 2 weeks ago to come up with the modified program. They have never tested a California emmissions equipped model and the gas they use does not have MTBE, so they were a little concerned about the timing with Calif. gas (although they would be anxious to hear from someone out here).

BACK2FORD - I just put my chip in on Friday. It is using the CUX2R2 program and it works great. ToyMan was on of the guys that Superchips had on the dyno. I haven't had a chance to "run it like I stole it", but so far I haven't noticed an problems just improvements.

I just spoke at length with Mike Troyer about the 2k Lightning program for California. Superchips has several programs they can send which vary in the areas of max shift rpm, fuel-air mix, compensation for low energy gas, etc. I ordered the max 5400 rpm shift point program with the "conservative" approach for the louseball MTBE gas. Mike says this is the best compromise for folks who want to blend good perf gains with retention of much of the factory engine margins, while using low energy gasoline. BACK2FORD, is this the chip you have in mind?

FORDSALES, is this the one you have? If so have you noticed any pinging? TIA.
