Angry WOT 1st to 2nd Shift.... hesitation

I have now installed Sal's PSP filter kit and hoped this problem would go away. WOT shifts when going into to second gear show a sign of hesitation and drop of rpm .... then catches up and screams again. Anyone had similar problems and a solution w/o a new chip?

I've also noticed this on mine occasionally on 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift. Not every time however. It seems like lag coming from the supercharger. I'm also thinking the electronics may be causing part of the problem. This being the first supercharged vehicle I have owned, I really do not know what the norm is.

What i think you guys are describing is what is called torque reduction, when the truck gos to shift the computer drops 4 cylnders, I believe this is fixxed via Chip.

Hey Ron, Sal here. What you are describing is the normal operation of the stock PCM. At WOT, it drops cylinders. This results in what feels like a "pause" or "lag" in between shifts. Yes, it is extremely annoying, and was the first thing I worked on for the new trucks. As previously stated, our chips eliminate this.

With Sal's chip my truck pulls like a locomotive from 0 to 140 mph. No hesitation, no flat spots, no pinging, just pure acceleration! Make certain that your chip is in performance mode!

Make shure that the chip connection is clean. I saw it said alot on this site. When Bill M gave me his chip to use, he told me again. But took me one little trip down road, to find out that I did not do a good job. It whent to shift from first to second, and paused(lost power),then went on. My son was riding with me and he said what was that. My seven year old new that it wasn't right. Recleaned connection and shift problem was gone. Only time I've had a shift problem. But if yours was doing it before chip, you may have other problem(s). If it is pausing or really losing power, you may need to take to dealer for them check. With out the chip in, I've always been able to her pcm drop cyl as it shifts(at WOT), but no powerloss.
