Eclipse Audio Gear
Has anyone had any experience with Eclipse Audio gear?
I've been looking at their double-din 5.8" TFT system (I really want graphical GPS navigation) and was wondering how it holds up to say the Alpine AV1000 or something? I like the idea that it dosn't need to come flip out of a single-DIN headunit, but instead is a double DIN unit.

I'm running the 7001 single DIN head unit because the Ford spec radio is 100mm (about 1.5 DIN). 2 pair of 8973's 5x7 coaxial speakers in the qtrs and doors, and two 8810-6 10" subs; one each behind each outboard seat. Amp is a MTX 5400-x (~800 watt) and the Eclipse 8-disk changer.
Will it win any competitions? Nah. But the midrange and highs are crisp, the bass hits hard and clean, which is exactly what I wanted when I walked in the place. At about 40% power the rear view mirror is useless.
I was worried about all the wear and tear on the retractable screen, but in 10 months of use the only thing I've had to do is replace the battery in my remote.
I don't have the GPS installed so I can't comment on that part of it, but hope the other comments help.

I dont think the electronics are worth a damn. I have gone thru 3 head units and a 6 disc changer. The head units all skip like crazy. The last was 3 yrs ago and was "the best ever" as I was told. All B.S. The only thing I would buy from them (with my bad luck in their products I can't believe I would consider anything)is the 8800 subs.
This opinion is from my experience and money down the drain. (I got my first piece almost 10 yrs ago) For the money you can do better.
