Post Lightning Ordering Tips

I seem to recall seeing a thread somwhere here relating to "Dos and Don'ts" when ordering and taking delivery on a Lightning.

Could someone steer me to the thread or has someone pulled all the info together into a check sheet-type format. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

J.

The ordering part is easy. The only option for the 2000 L is the tonneau cover (besides the color). The 1999 covers had problems, so I didn't get this option. Also, I wouldn't pay over MSRP. If you need help, I may know where you can get one for about $1,500 under MSRP, and then have it sent from Ford to a dealer near you (dropped shipped). There was a previous post 1-2 months ago listing what to look for when picking it up. Cracked fog lights, scuffs on underside of front bumper, scuffed tires. There was 10 to 15 items on the list. I don't remember the message title, but you can try a search for cracked fog lights. Tom

I think I was in on that tread.

-Don't pay over MSRP
-Make it clear you do not want them to drill holes in your front bumper to mount the front licence plate bracket. (Do Not Mount Licence plate frame)
-Ask to meet the person that does the PDI (Pre delivery inspection)Ask him to call you when the transporter comes in. Also ask him not to mount the front licence plate bracket. He is the one that will tell a mechanic to mount the plate or he will do it himself.
