Tranny Shifting Harder.....Why?

I just put on my first performance mod last night. A K&N FIPK II system, which made a hell of a differene in performance and sound. The only thing I noticed was the tranny is shifting harder now and the rear tires are chirping out of first. Can anyone give me any insight on this?

Thanks

...and you're complaining??

Ever since I put on the Nitto's, I've been awaiting the moment that the "chirp" came back.....

Check the voltage on the TPS. The voltage should be someplace around 0.99 at no throttle and I think around 4.98 or something like that, with open throttle. Mine ended up being faulty. When the L would shift, even at really slow speeds, the drivetrain started to bang. I got to the place where I thought the azz end of the truck was about to come out. I found a code on mine, that is how I know to check it.
Last year before a put it away for the winter, the shifting wasn't really as good as it used to be. I thought I would change tranny fluid and filter and stuff over the winter. This didn't help because the TPS was the problem. Do a search under TPS check, I found several posts about the TPS voltage adjustment.

I know what you mean. I still can get a chirp with the Nitto DRs, but it has to be on perfect fresh smooth pavement. Nothing like those F1s though. Those things barked everywhere. Sure does hook better now though.

Take it to Autozone and get them to scan the PCM, I'd not be surprised if you have a code that begins with a 7 or 17 (tranny codes) and your PCM has reverted to Line PRessure=Max to protect something inside the box. With the code I can usually tell you where to start looking.

Hope this helps,

G

Greg,
could an increase in line pressure blow the rear seal in the tranny?

Would a general code reader pick up those codes?
