Angry Dealer tried to rape me today!!

I saw an ad in the paper saying the local Ford dealership (Razzari Ford, Merced CA) had gotten a 2000 Lightning in stock. I went to see it because I'm in the market for one. I figured at most the dealer markup would be $1,500. WRONG! They wanted $5,000 on top of the $31,500 price tag!! Almost $37,000! I'm sorry the truck was so sweet but not to the tune of near $37,000. Sorry to rant, I'm just upset.

Hate them dealerships that really gouged the customers too.

I know a dealership in N.California selling the trucks for MSRP.

Let me know if you are interested.

What you have here is a couple of slow dealers that have had the hook in the water a little too long!

I bought my original "L" from Razzari early last year well below invoice, and was quoted a price on a red 2000 less than two months ago at MSRP. (no pack) I opted to buy a Viper from their Dodge store....Go back and tell Ron Nieport to sharpen his pencil. However, be advised I know for a fact he sold two 2000's one black, one white to a pair of brothers in your area for the price you were quoted. (they have no one but themselves to blame for the gouging they took, and you now have to overcome the fact they set the market price in the Central CA. area. There is always Swanson Fahrney in Selma, CA just down the road, not to mention the network of people on this board who will help you locate one at a lower price, if possible.

Thumbs up

I bought my 99 XLT SC at Razzari Ford in Merced CA and it was the best experience I've ever had buying a new vehicle.... I will certainly buy from them again. Sorry about your experience, but I don't think it was the norm for Razzari.

JohnJr,
I'll drop you an e-mail and you can give me the name of the dealership. Thanks!

mswaim,
Yeah in a pervious post you mentioned you'd had a good experience with Razzari, so that's why I went in. When I went yesterday I spoke with a guy by the name of Randy Adair. He was helpful, but knew nothing the Lightning or even SVT. He said that if the Lightning was too expensive (duh! ) they could take a regular F-150 and strap a blower on it for $5,000. He obviously knew almost zero about the Lightning. He admitted that I probably knew more about the Lightning then he did, and all my knowledge comes from this board.
He did however provide me with a 1999 Lightning brochure. He mentioned that a 40 year old man had recently bought a Lightning. That’s probably why the salesman was so confident on the price if they just sold two at the $37 grand price tag. Randy made it seem as if I didn't buy that Lightning right then and there I'd never find another one, let alone cheaper. When I inquired as whether the price was final he made a statement to the effect "It's a limited edition, if you try and haggle over the price they'll raise it even more." I figured I'd either drive or call Selma and see what they wanted for a Lightning. BTW, any pictures of the Viper?

Marv1,
My mom also had a bad expereince with Razzari's. When she bought her Towncar back in '94 they gave such a bad time about warranty work that she had to contact the Better Business Bureau. Plus my mom was interested in buying a building Tim (I think that's his name, but I maybe wrong) Razzari owned, and wanted to turn it into a bar, but he was such a jerk she gave up. She had investor’s all lined up and the whole 9 yards. I’m glad that you had a good experience.

I just want to say this message is EXTREMELY helpful and knowledgeable. You guys (and gals) have been very cool to me and I don’t even own a Lightning (yet hehe ) and I want to thank you for that.

-Alex

P.S. If anyone wants a 2000 White Lightning with all options expect bed cover for near $37,000 there's one at Razzari Ford(209)383-3673, Merced Ca. hehe

Sorry you were not treated better, Alex. I have always been treated well, however I have had service issues in the past, but I was able to resolve them with the owner. Try Ron, the fleet manager and the SVT coordinator. By the way, Swanson Fahrney is a higher volume dealer, who also deals in Roush equipped Fords, Steeda and just about any other Ford performance units you can name. They are the ones who bought my 99 "L" and did some of the service on my 97 Cobra. Razzari installed the Vortech for me, but Swanson did all the other work. Good Luck.

Cool

JohnJr,
My e-mail is alex@elite.net Thanks

mswaim,

Thanks for the information. I'll try Swanson Fahrney and see what they can do for me. Them selling Roush products means if I bought a Lightning from I could have the Roush lowering and suspenstion mods done all at once. Hopefully with Swanson Fahrney being a higher volume dealer, they'll be more willing to haggle.

Sold my 98 c5 last thursday morning. Picked up my white lightning thurday evening. What a truck! Is the noise from the supercharger addictive or what? And as far as pricing goes my dealer has 2 lightnings for sale for $29.100 plus tax out the door. They have a red one and a silver one in stock. If interested Call Sue McKinney at Brondes Ford Toledo Ohio (419) 471-2952 This board has givin me so much information about the lightning. My next purchase will be a chip and intake system.
