Question First oil change

What is the ideal mileage to perform your first oil change? I do not think you would want to run very long on the oil you break it in on.

I did my first oil change around 3500 rpm-errr miles, as per proper maintenence for severe conditions as outlined in the owners manual. I talked to the dealer about it, and they said 'with todays technology...break-ins are a thing of the past' to which I replied, 'good thing I got that 100k mile warrantee, and that quality care service, so its all on you. He just looked at me like I said something really wierd, you know the look, the kind where it takes something to make a noise to change the subject... Uh, nevermind.

My dealer gave me a free oil and filter change at 1500 and then recommended the 3000 mile interval. You can probably go longer like the 5000 mile change but in my opion its cheap insurance.

Just had my 3rd oil change at 10000 miles, at my "SVT" dealer. Watch em like a hawk. The knucklehead that changed my oil put 7 quarts in. Specs clearly call for 6 quarts and don't overfill. When I confronted them, they proceeded to tell me that the SVT owners manual was incorrect.
I'm thinking---this guy changes oil for a living and he's telling me that the SVT/Ford engineers that designed this 360hp beast, don't know how much oil goes in the engine. Hmmm...Last time I go there. I went down to Valvoline and had them remove a quart.

anyone else have this? My mechanic and I thought it should be a bit lighter?

Mine was very dirty at 1500 miles, but then again, instead of changing the oil, they changed the engine. Now the oil looks like it just came from the factory!?

For anyone that is curious, the new engine that I got is date coded 4-12-00. (sorry to whomever didn't get their new truck as a result)
