EGR Flow Insufficient Detected - code question
EGR Flow Insufficient Detected - code question
Hello guys,
Finally I shipped my L back to my own country – Taiwan. I want to thank you guys because you guys help me a lot.
When the first day my L arrived to Taiwan, everything was fine. I drove my L to downtown and answered bunch of people’s question “ WHAT the MONSTER is that “ but since the third days, my service engine soon light was on , the code was 401 and 1000, I had no idea what happened , I thought maybe that was my tune’s program made that , so I cleared codes by my SCT2 tune and returned my program to stock .
Today when I drove my L to my company, the engine service light on again , same codes 401 and 1000.
P0401 EGR Flow Insufficient Detected
P1000 Check of all OBDII Systems Not Complete
I was try to clear the codes but I couldn’t , code 1000 still there .
Could anyone give me some suggests or tell me what happen on my L ?
Thanks a lot
Gasoline’s problem ?

EGR flow is based off of a sensor, some hoses and some exhaust tubing on the right side of the engine.
If you need a new EGR sensor, let me know, I have an extra.
I was looking, but I don't seem to have any shots of the engine bay to point it out.

Could also be the PTBF sensor going out ... It's a little square box with two
hoses that come up from the EGR main. Replacement hoses should be done
and changed to silicone hoses. (Ford recommends that now!)
The round black thing in the picture is the EGR actuator, and the hose to the top
of the actual EGR assembly is easy to see here.
Good Luck ...

Does your SCT tuner allow you to delete the EGR? That's what i did with my Predator 15k miles ago and i haven't had a problem since. Probably not the wisest way to solve the problem but it sure would be the easiest

Mine started giving me trouble too so I just took everything off and had it taken care of in my tune. Passes NY Inspections with flying colors too.....
You dont need no stinking EGR, and look how prrrretty she looks without it

Hope you work it out smolik

P1401 is usually a faulty DPFE sensor.
Try looking in the regular F150 forum. Most of this PCM stuff is common and the L is no different if diagnosing most of it.

I have checked many issues for code 1401
Should be EGR vac line melted or bad sensor
but in fact , I sill no idea where is the DPFE and EGR vac line.
could anyone tell me where are them ? thanks a lot
and Could I still drive my car ?

is the silver looking thang below the EGR ... It is either
there, (My new one is black plastic!) or a bit farther to the
front. It has two small feed lines from the actual EGR
pipes on the recirculating side that come into it.
I think a replacement is about 30 bucks ... They usually go
bad when you have other O2 issues. Or back pressure from
a broken Catalytic Converter.

Cliff -- the new DPFE sensors are all black plastic, no more silver metal part....
The P1401 error may go away and just be a bi-product of the fact your hose was metled. (Did you replace it yet?)
If your P1401 does not go away, email me, I have an extra DPFE new sensor that I'd be willing to part with for less then you having to buy a new one. (shipping to Taiwan is no biggie) They tend to be around $75 if you talk to local dealers.
