Question Coolant blowout?!?!

For those of you that haven't read my post on tranny hp? I own a 2001 White Lightning. I have a 6lb. lower pulley, predator street tune, and it has been dyno tuned. I am making 394.9rwhp and 521.7rwtq. I just got my truck back last Saturday from Delk's Performance out of Lebanon, TN. and I just couldn't wait to run it that night. Well, I did and was quite impressed with my results, but after about 6 good passes I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. When I raised the hood I noticed I had coolant everywhere and the coolant bottel was full!! I did notice I was running a tad sluggish on my 6th pass also. Any ideas how to fix?

Any help will greatly be appreciated.
I was thinking about draining it back to the normal fill level, but was unsure if an overfill was my problem.

Thanks,

Was the coolant reservoir overfilled before you ran it? Which reservior are you talking about, the radiator or the intercooler?

May want to double check your hoses and the reservoir caps while you're in there (you didn't mention having checked those in your post)...

where did the coolant originate from? Was it engine coolant or I/C coolant? They are completely seperate systems.

What Cliff said.

Leonard (easterisland) had a video of his lifting a head on the dyno. It basically overcomes the pressure rating of the radiator cap and spews out around it.

in short............ head lifts and pressurizes the coolant system and it spews out the cap.. it could also just be a blown head gasket as well... i lifted a head and had this happen

Leonards video was on the dyno at Delk Performance in Lebanon. Weird huh?

My truck did the same thing. I disassembled my engine and found both head gaskets blown. Currently Im finishing up my built engine at Delk right now. I would call Brent@Delk and discuss with him your problems.

Before you start freaking out with all the "blown head gasket" ideas, check your heater hose at the rear passenger side of the blower. After I pulled the blower a few weeks ago, I had the same thing happen on subsequent WOT runs - coolant spewing everywhere. It was the hose I just mentioned. The factory tension clamp isn't very good. So I put two worm gear clamps on it, and all is well.

Sorry, I guess I forgot to mention is was the intercooler resevior. I never checked to see if they filled the resevior when I picked the truck up, but it may have been overfilled. I am going to call brent today and see if they filled it...it looked as if it was comming from the fill cap though, none of my hoses were wet or leaking. Thanks for all your help everyone. Oh and to answer Keith's question, yep same guy from AL.

Thanks,
