Truck PC

I'm almost done with the screen surround. Here's a teaser picture.

Very nice.

Like to see pictures where you are mounting the computer.

Is that a touchscreen?

I'm leaning between a custom case in the glove box or under the seat. Yes it is a touch screen.

That is cool!

I'd like to find a way to replace the entire gauge cluster with a screen. That way you could set up the gauges you want and read whatever sensors you want. Build the motherboard some where in the dash and plug into the PCM. You could also do email and surf the net. Maybe even do a word document or photoshop.

That is gonna be nice! Live datalogging from the dash maybe?
I like the idea or storing music and dvds on the hard drive and playing them right there with some sort of visualization from WMP or something.

Keep us posted

I'm thinkin it'd be sweet to have a few cams set up on the truck plugged into it so you can catch a few different views. That'd be sweet. be able to edit them on the spot and burn them to a DVD and give them to buds.

Very very nice. Heres my surround/screen primed....

It needs to be painted. This project is almost done for me.... I have almost all of the parts needed to finish, I just have not had the time to finish it up. Have you attempted to re-route the A/C controls yet? Let me know...

Mecca, I relocated mine, not that hard. Just takes a little time to run all the new vacuum lines.

Grimace,

Where did you relocate them to? Do you have any pics? I have an Expy overhead console, I just haven't molded it yet for the Lightning A/C controls, or rerouted any of the vaccuum or electrical lines.

I relocated my A/C controls to an expy overhead console. The mod wasnt that bad only need to re-route and extend vac. lines and some wires.

But the A/C Panel isn't a direct replacement is it? Did you mold it into the console?

Sorry Mike, not getting emails from this site. Anyway, yeah, I had to do some serious cutting and trimming to get the L cluster to fit the expy overhead. Then extended the vacuum lines, and wires. After it was all said and done, it looks pretty good. I need to pull it back out, and do some touch up work on the filler, then a good coat of epoxy paint.
