Question Head/Camshaft question

Need opinions on this one -

If I were to put Stage 3 heads (Patriot), Stage 3 camshafts (Comp cams), and a new set of valve springs on my L, how much of a difference in performance and HP should I expect to see? These are the ones I was looking at:

I am currently runnning a 6# lower and FTVB (custom tune for 93 octane, and TR6 plugs) - getting ready to throw on some 4.10's and maybe a PI stall converter as well. Does anyone think I am assembling a time bomb, considering that I am still runing a stock block???

Thanks,

Steve

That should be a great combination for power. You won't need new springs though. The Patriot Heads will come with Manley springs that can handle those cams fine. Personally, I think that you would be assembling a time bomb if you stick with the stock block. You would probably see 40 RWHP out of the heads and cams if not more. You are going to have to do quite a bit of work to swap the cams, you might as well throw a built block in the equation while your at it and only have to tear into that thing once. Just my opinion....

The spring issue is good to know - thanks! I was afraid to hear about the block - it's what I figured, but was really hoping differently (another $4K for a block on top of this is just a little too rich for my blood right now)...

Anybody else?

Actually, you can get a built short block from JLP for $2900. That's $3400 for a brand new built block and $500 back if you send in your old block. Sounds a lot better than $4K doesn't it.....

I need to talk to them about shipping...sending an engine block to Germany sounds like it could get kind of expensive... But yes, it DOES sound a lot better than $4K..

I think they have shipped engines over seas before. They might be able to cut you a deal just to get some more exposure over there. Not sure though. Have you contacted LFP about heads and cams yet? They have some awesome prices and great quality stuff.

I'll give them a call - might be a while though...as Andre can tell you, anything to do with working on a car over here is EXPENSIVE as all H3LL!

LFP - the last time I spoke with them - steadfastly refused to ship to APO addresses, no matter what the part.
