Angry Muffler blew off again...

Hey guys just want to make sure no one else is having this problem. This will be the 3rd time my Lightning will have to have its muffler put back on. Dealer said he needed new clamps, so he ordered them, but the muffler shouldn't come off... Well it did. Sure glad I did not get underneath there and do it on my own...

BTY, I went to the Haiwian (spell?) Tropic Pageant (PPV)pre-pageant party at the tropicana, it was a blast! The worlds most beautiful women were there. I think this is where the girls get to meet the judges... Then there was the Sex in the City Party at the Hard Rock Cafe (HBO)... Man what a night. The 2 parties were completely inrelated. I love Vegas

Tundra:

Your Bolt is trying to tell you something!!!
Replace the mufflers with welded straight pipes as some others have done and just run it with the cats.
Better sound, probably a few more hp and no more damn mufflers falling off.

BTW, did you know that Grandma from Eagle River that had two pistols in her luggage on a flght from Wash. to Alaska, one of which discharged and sent a round into a diaper bag in the passenger compartment? Figure Eagle River isn't that big, you might know her.

I have 950 miles on my L and yesterday the mufflers fell off. I had to get under the truck and stick them on just to get home.

The dealership ran the L up and tightened the clamps extremely hard. If they fall off again, there is a problem.

Cool

Maybe you have a set of moose n*tz plugging the muffler and it gets forced off.

Mine fell off once too. I put an extra clamp on and it solved the problem. Another way is to tack weld them on. Then they wont fall off again.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I am going to have to have that done.

Bill Murray,
You are right about Eagle River not being big and all, way less hectic than Anchorage, but I haven't heard that one before, not surprized. A friend of mine and I were once at a shooting range, walking around with one of his pistols, exercising the proper safety, pointing the pistol down and away, and then from nowhere, it fired. Enough people saw it to beleive it was completly unintentional. H said that was the second time it fired like that, so he got rid of it.

4D THNDR,
I beleive the moose n*tz would be in the instercooler plugging up that leak everyone has... , afterall we litlerally rear ended that thing.

FORDSALES
That was about the same exact mileage I had when it first came off.

Bad Pit, Never thought of that, I'll tell the dealer. "While that welder is out, I've got this clunk..."

Party on Fremont street tonight...

Tundra:

The Grandma story is totally true, in the last 10 days or so. As she was released to "relatives" in Vancouver, WA. the flight may have originated from Portland, I may have missed that. I didn't save the article, just remembered that you are from that area and mentally filed it. She was, I believe in her late sixties, early seventies.

BTW, if it is any consolation, my Bassani exhaust leaks like heck even if it has not fallen off at the muffler end yet. Going to try to get it fixed this weekend.

Cool

Tundra,
When I was in Vegas 2 weekends ago I went to the LV Motorspeedway, it was a great tour. They have a brand new dragstrip there that they said they were letting the locals use for free for a while to "season" it. Have you taken advantage of that yet? In the industrial complex there is the new Shelby factory. They are makeing the Series 1 cars. (Powered by an Olds Aroura engine). I drove around back and started talking to a guy sitting outside and he took me inside. Very cool seeing these cars being hand assembled!
The guy I talked to was there with some people that were in conference with the Shelby people, they had this wild carbon fiber bodied Mercedes called the GTR International SSK 5.7 GTR. 575 hp with an Eaton MP 90 blower, 1/4 mile in 11.6. A little pricey 275k. I think they are from Texas. http://www.gtrinternational.com/main.html
