Question Lightning VS Jeep SRT-10

I just had one of these pull along me and gave me a dirty look this morning. It was almost like he was looking at a pile of manure. Unfortunately, there was just too much traffic to set the record straight.

Jeep or DC keeps bragging about their 0-50 times but have never seen anything for the quarter. What will they do?

Around 13 - 13.2, not much contest for most of us.

However, having AWD means it will more than likely beat out a Lightning on the street that it runs dead even with at the track.

I believe you mean SRT-8. Stock for stock on the street, the Jeep should be a little quicker.

Yes that's right SRT-8. Sure would be interesting to drop a Viper V-10 in one those. I just checked the weight at 4788lbs. Pretty close to our trucks.

I'm not an SUV fan but this is a nice one. Exterior is nice but the interior is really cheap like most DC vehicles.

With that kind of stock powe, they would be an interesting vehicle with a few mods.

They are very interesting vehicles to say the least. Would make a killer street vehicle with some mods. Not too shabby in stock form either. I am still unsure on the appearance still. If the interior is anything like what Dodge has done lately, I am sure it is perfect. -Mat-

My tuner just bought one. He has a Viper and SRT-10 as well. He sold the SRT-10 and got the GCSRT-8. It's a beast. 425 AWD HP. 0-60 in the mid to low 4's. Stock ones are running 13.0-2 ish in the 1/4. Having AWD is a HUGE advantage on the street. If you have a high 12 L at the track, you better nail your launch or they will take us. All he has to do is mash it.

If they'd come down from the 46k sticker, I'd be looking hard at one. Nice Brembo brake package as well. As for modibility though, it's pretty much CAI and a bottle of giggle gas right now, so we L's have the advantage of getting quicker easier.

I think the Trailblazer SS has the advantage on it there. There's plenty of stuff for the LS2 already.

I would love to run one of those srt -8s with my awd escalade(440+awdhp) the only advantage is weight. 5800 vs 4800. Best thing about the awd is that they Launch like a rocket. then once you hit 90 they start to pull slow.

Are you kidding? To make up for 1000lbs, you would need 250 -300hp. After the first 50ft, the SRT-8 will smoke you like you were standing still. Its the same thing as the 03-04 Cobras vs the Lightnings. You just can't make up the 1000lb difference and from a handling standpoint, just forget it. Why do you think Z0-6 C6s are just fantastic cars? 3167lbs is a hell of a good start.

Heres the real scoop . Motorweek just tested one today on speedvision. 0-60 @ 4.9 and the quarter mile at 13.5 These are real world numbers. Its actually dead even with the 6.1 Hemi charger that dream car tested 2 weeks ago. Very good numbers from an all wheel drive suv that weighs a tad over 2 tons. BTW they are around 40-42K loaded. i love the looks of it.

Torrie said he was looking at one last week, thats sweet he got one. I agree with your assesment on the overall package. I remember mentioning the GC SRT-8 a while back at a Gville wrench session and everyone poopoo'd it. I think they are the ****, any way you slice it.

I wouldn't worry about it. With the way people are these days, 90% of them are going to be thugged out bling-mobiles with 36" DUB's that weigh 100 more pounds than the stock wheel. Any advantage it had will be soaked up with stupid human factor.

I just bought an 06' Commander for a daily driver, the dealership had a black SRT-8, very nice ride and in my opinion a pretty solid deal for 44k, a few things from I did notice, head room is limited and the seats are a bit narrow for me, at 6'4 280lbs, the vehicle is pretty stealth, other than a set of wheels and an SRT badge many at first glance would think it's a standard Grand Cherokee (which I like) and while I didn't drive it - I can tell you it sounds great at start up. In my opinion, on the street, all-wheel drive rules, out of the hole you better be right on.
