Question New Supercharger

Hey guys. I'm a new member and I purchased an 02 True Blue Lightning. I was just wondering what superchargers are the best. I see that Whipple makes a good one but i'm not too sure of anyother brands. So if you could help me out that would be great. Thanks

Your will most likely going to get the book thrown at you for not using the SEARCH button but since your new i'll cut you a break. The issue is still out on weather or not the Whipple does or by how much out perform the Kenne Bell. Those are your top two but also Magnum powers also makes a blower but it doesn't exactly give you all the power a KB or whipple will give you( but for the price it is hard to beat). The cheepest route is porting your stock Eaton. These things have a nickname of Heaton for a reason. For about 500 bucks you can aid 1-2 lb. boost and lower intake temps...... Oh and one more thing if you were going in the route of an aftermartket blower make sure to have a good tuner tune you truck to no more then 15psi or so if your running a stock block. Best of luck and welcome to the club.

yeah presently the whipple 2.3 and the KB 2.2 are the best blowers out there. KB is coming out with a 2.6L displacement blower "soon" so watch out for that! There are hundreds of threads on KB vs Whipple, but to sum it all up for you they can make equal power at lower boost levels, and the Whipple takes less of a pulley combo (eg 3.5 upper, 6lb lower for whipple to make same boost as 3.0 upper and 8lb lower for KB 2.2). At lower boost levels (up to about 16-17lbs it's pretty much a wash. It is believed that the Whipple will out perform the KB once you get into big boost numbers, but before you'd be at that level you need a whole lot of other supporting mods.

Best place to start: Dyno tune with either SCT or Diablo chip/tuner, 4lb lower pulley, Factory Tech Valve Body, Steig ported blower, and cone filter intake kit. That should get you a 12 second quarter mile pass....

Depends on the power level you are looking to achieve...

Don't we all want the most power? isn't that the truth. This problem comes into play when we put to much power into the stock bottom end. Some guys run 400 hp and blow up and some guys are pushing well over 500 and closer to 600 with the stock bottom end and holding up fine. The biggest thing with these trucks is the TUNE. I cant stress that enough....If you were gonna go with the KB i would suggest longtubes and Hi flow cats. These are the most restictions on the lightning in terms of bottlenecking. In terms of pullies that is your preference. Get a couple of beers ready and use the SEARCH button and look up what pullies to use. We should here from you again in about 2 or 3 weeks J/K

I believe i am already running with the longtubes and the hi flow cats made by Bassani. And for pullies, i've been reading that the 4# pulley is the one to change. But i could be wrong. Hopefully my engine isn't that one that blows up with pushing only 450 HP. and i definitely hope to be writing some positive things on here in the near future.

Thats an EASY 12 sec quarter. In fact, I just got a stage 4 stieg port and I am looking to see 12.3x with MT streets. 12.5x on street tires.

I now hope that I dont see 450rwhp. I doubt I will. Thats a little to close to the edge for me on the stock internals.
