Question Windshields and rocks

OK, I've had my L. for 7 1/2 weeks now, and mine is a magnet for rock chips. Had the original windshield replaced last Thursday after a rock chip split and cracked the entire right side. I've already gotten two stars in the new windshield in five days. Is anyone else having this problem? Any solutions? I've already got a bug shield on it.

No ***** eh? Man I have been absolutely pelted since day one. Rocks seem to get sucked right into me. First one really wacked the windshield. One of those hit the dirt type of hits. Just chipped the glass.

Second one skipped off the hood then into the windshield. Nice 3/4" divot.

The leading edge of the hood is also chipped in numerous places. This after 1500 miles.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the aluminum hood doesn't hold paint too well!!!

I won't put a bug deflector on. Kind of ugly I think, IMHO.

Only recommendation I've got is to keep in front of everybody. Not so hard I don't think.

Not only that but,Do you all notice,They do not make glass like they used to.I mean even since the 80s.Think of all the old cars with original windshiels. Now think of a basic 5 year old car.The glass quality really stinks now a days

That sucks moonshine. I have seen quite a few rock chips in the Ground effects and bumper but nothing in the glass yet.

Between the chips and the scrape the effects took and the scratch in the snuglid i have already decided that I will have to get Body work done sometime. Just waiting for more damage so I can get my $$ worth

Talking

The windshield on this new L is great. The one on my 93 was much more vertical and attracted rocks like a magnet. Six years, six windshields. The glass guys and I were on a first name basis.

This new truck is one year old next month and I have only one small smile and two pits and it has taken some hard hits. I live in west Houston which is the gravel truck (I-10) capitol of the world. The angle of this windshield is the secret. It deflects the rocks more. You can get State Farm Insurane. They allow you to have $250 collission deductable. and $100.00 deductable on glass, acts of God, etc. A good deal.

A few months ago going to Franklin N.C.(to see mountains). A blackbird skipped off of the whindshield . I jumped , it hit the glass right in front of me. Thought it was going to come inside. But only left some nasty stuff that washers got off.

Yup.....big problem!

I had a small bullseye on mine that I had filled in last week. I was thinking about a bug guard but now I am probably going to go with that StoneGard kit. Not that this does a heck of a lot for the windshield, at least everything else will be protected.
