On my 99 F-150 4x4, almost every time I hit the "auto" window button to make it go all the way down without holding it, the window makes this scraping noise. It is kinda loud, and is rather embarassing when people are in the truck. I mentioned the "4x4" in my description to imply that I have gone mudding several times, but I don't really think that any mud or anything got down in there. I will wash it, and it still does it the same. There are little streak marks on the window, so that is why I am assuming it is scraping somehow/someway. I know you all have Lightnings and don't take your trucks through the terrain I do, but is anyone else having this problem?

 

On my 92 F150 the molding that cleans mist off the outside of the window as it goes down gets crap stuck in it. This then scratches the window . If yours is that loud then it wont take long to ruin the window. Put window all the way down and use something plastic to clean the surface of the rubber moulding that contacts the window.

Yikes, I hope I haven't ruined the window by not doing anything about it...do you think that the dealership will fix it under warranty? I don't know if that would be under warranty for just a little scraping noise. One other thing I have noticed is that when i hold both buttons up to put up the windows, the driver's side is always just a second or so slower. I wonder if I have done something to the motor!!!

 

Hello all..

The passenger window on my 99 L makes a funny noise.. It sounds like wet rubber rubing against the glass.. kind of a squaking noise.. It does not sound like metal or anything hard is in contact with the window.. The tint and the window show no sign of contact..

A friend of mine with a 99 L has the same thing..
