Another Boost 101 question

I'm overseas and don't have the luxery of having tuners around, so I tend to not get into boost all that often. I have been running the same set up (chip (Superchip from Troyer), filter, 4lb pulley) since week 1 of owning the truck, and it's been virtually problem free. I'm expecting to return to the states soon, but have been itching to really open it on the pretty much un-policed roads in southern Italy.

Now, here's the question(s). Assuming the aftermarket A/F gauge I installed is accurate, I've heard they're pretty useless, but please play along. If it's accurate, would I see the guage moving more towards "lean" or "rich" while in boost? I just recently read that rich is better, which is where mine goes...why? Again, TIA!!

rich is better because in most cases it won't damage the engine... just your performance. Is it a wideband setup or not? i take it that it's not. But it's definitley better to be reading rich than lean. Reading lean=detonation=built motor

I prefer the 100mph kickdowns. If I can't do that with the truck, I don't want it anymore...

On a serious note, do you really do that?

I sure do and have been for the last 4 years including well over 30 days on the road course. That is the single thing that I love most about this truck.

To be able to do that I have kept torque reduction on and have not changed shift pressure (stock settings on the tranny). The only change is a FTVB.

Still shifts like new, seriously.
